MONSTER'S DEADLY WARNING TO 'RED' STATES
New York Post ^ | 11/01/04 | Niles Lathem

WASHINGTON - Osama bin Laden warned in his October Surprise video that he will be closely monitoring the state-by-state election returns in tomorrow's presidential race — and will spare any state that votes against President Bush from being attacked, according to a new analysis of his statement.

The respected Middle East Media Research Institute, which monitors and translates Arabic media and Internet sites, said initial translations of a key portion of bin Laden's video rant to the American people Friday night missed an ostentatious bid by the Saudi-born terror master to divide American voters and tilt the election towards Democratic challenger John Kerry.

MEMRI said radical Islamist commentators monitored over the Internet this past weekend also interpreted the key passage of bin Laden's diatribe to mean that any U.S. state that votes to elect Bush on Tuesday will be considered an "enemy" and any state that votes for Kerry has "chosen to make peace with us."

The statement in question is when bin Laden said on the tape: "Your security is up to you, and any state that does not toy with our security automatically guarantees its own security."

That sentence followed a lengthy passage in the video in which bin Laden launches personal attacks on the president.

Yigal Carmon, president of MEMRI, said bin Laden used the Arabic term "ay-wilaya" to refer to a "state" in that sentence.

That term "specifically refers to an American state, like Tennessee," Carmon said, adding that if bin Laden were referring to a "country" he would have used the Arabic word "dawla."

This is clearly a tactic by osama to divide the American people and influence the election. Clearly he would prefer a Kerry victory. It would not surprise me if the stupid undecided voters might be swayed to vote for Kerry because of this. I hope they are not so stupid as to believe he would keep his word. Frankly, as an American, it doesn't make me feel any better to know that he'll hit some other state instead of mine. Any attack on America or its allies is unacceptable. Unfortunately, a Kerry presidency would view attacks on Bush states as only a nuisance and therefore an accteptable consequence of the times, and a few words about how we need to understand and negotiate and other liberal crap. Pray for a Bush victory. And call everyone you know and convince them to vote for Bush tomorrow.

"Some people in this country have a lot of growing up to do..fast"

Unfortunately the people who have the "growing up" to do will most likely have to learn "the hard way".

I don't believe for one second that Osama will "spare" states who vote Kerry, especially NY and CA, because he likes to attack where he's already struck before, and/or where he can kill the most people i.e highly populated areas. Not to mention, blue states, with their "no profiling" "let's not upset the terrorists" policies make themselves easier targets.

Isn't it ironic that the states (NY, CA, IL, etc.) that should be voting for President Bush's strong stance against terrorism (not Kerry's waffling/nuanced/nuisance stance) are supporting Kerry?

That to me is so ironic (and stupid).

And, who would/should believe a lying murderer like OBL anyway? Like the guy would discern between Americans because of where they were. This is the guy who says that killing a small child is fine if they are an "infidel". This is the guy who proclaims that these islamic nutbags are doing Allah's work if they slit the throat of an innocent woman. Who'd believe him that he will give some states "a pass"? I guess liberal dumbocrats.

Sad.

That bastard can't be trusted. First he wants Bush out so that he has time to stop running from cave to cave while kerry is out wasting time talking to the UN. Then he is going to level NY and any other place he can.

What are the dumb idiots that voted for Kerry to avoid death going to do? I guess they can ask John Edward to sue Osama?

The best answer to that bastard is to have the entire country go RED including CA and NY, followed by a major "targeting mistake" that takes out most of the so called "holy sites" which in fact are anything but holy.

Kerry's rhetoric appeals to those who worship at the alter of fat Sunday newspapers.

For someone who calls himself "faithincowboys" you certainly don't have any faith in cowboys.

Illinois is a red state. With Chicago turning it blue. 80-90% of the counties voted for Bush in 2000. Look at it county by county. Poor illinois voters are stuck with Chicago ruining their vote.

I just had a thought . . .

The other tape, the ABC one, was worded like it was a post election attack claim for responsibility. Could it be that ABC was supposed to hold back on that tape until after the election, releasing it after election results told OBL's operatives where to attack?
