LOL

I don't even know what to say about a guy that would endorse Kerry, other than...my fox hole is full.

Probably one of the people who always insisted Smith was a "true" conservative.

If you support Bush supporting No Child Left Behind, you are a RINO.
If you support Smith supporting Kerry supporting No Child Left Behind Plus, you are a conservative.

LOL

You are obviously politically ignorant and have no clue of the inside workings in the world of politics. You take the bait thrown out to you and accept it as gospel.

What was the deal with him? I am vaguely familiar with the base working to throw him out in his primary, and we succeeded, but I can't remember why. Was he a Jim Jeffords type?

"You are obviously politically ignorant and have no clue of the inside workings in the world of politics."

Unlike the advice you get from the voices in your head?

Please, master. Teach me the "inside workings in the world of politics." Specifically, when is it appropriate for a "true" conservative to flush his supposedly deep-seated and moral convictions. For money? For a job? For ego?

Smith supporter. Yeah, right. Small wonder he took his cult elsewhere. Your third-party irrelevance beckons.

But he did something - that is why we threw him over for Sununu in the primary. Does anybody remember what it was?

Until you know exactly went on with GWB, the Republican Party and Bob Smith I suggest you temper your words. It could come back to haunt you. Try asking Bob personally what happened.

Play a little game with me, politicalwit. I doubt you'll have the courage, but here's the invitation nonetheless. I call it "SDI" (which stands for "Socrates Discusses Infanticide"). Ready?

Question 1: "Are you pro-life?"

If your answer is "no," then the game is over. If your answer is "yes," proceed to the next question.

Question 2: "Is this position a) inconsequential to your worldview and politics, or b) foundational to your worldview and politics?"

If your answer is "a," then the game is over. If your answer is "b" then proceed to the next question.

Question 3: "Given that opposition to abortion/infanticide is foundational to your worldview, how can you possibly excuse someone for endorsing a pro-abortion/infanticide candidate at this crucial moment in the pro-life struggle?

That's what I thought. Game over.

didn't Bobby threaten to leave his "party" and become some kind of an independent?

just goes to show you that you can not trust these cut-throat egomaniacs....

similar to Buchannon and Jeffords, they want all the attention and when everything doesn't go their way, their off in another direction.....

makes you wonder about their convictions.....

because I believe that Bobby had at one time convictions about our country.....

I guess he lost them.....

I would bet that most here would not classify themselves as true conservatives.....

most people here would classify themselves as TRUE PATRIOTS which is what someone is NOT when they endorse a traitor and a scoundrel for the Presidency.....

every action has a consequence...and when people don't vote because of some holier than thou attitude that no one can live up to,...OR if they go off the deep end and endorse someone who is in acuality the direct oppiste of what one believes...well....

that is NOT being patriotic....that is pure egotism and self-fishness .

Bob Smith's principles are to Bob Smith. That you think otherwise and other comments in this post prove that some people will justify anything. No way in hell can a conservative support Kerry, not if he is a real conservative. Anyone who justify's this for Bob is delusional.

You and others, in this thread, are simply hurling your ex cathedra type pronouncements. Bob Smith's only "sin" is that he does not have the same priorities as those denouncing him. His whole record shows that he was an honorable, principled man, with one of the most Conservative voting records in Congress. All these nasty pronouncements cannot take that away.

Personally, I disagree with Bob's decision to support Kerry. My own priorities would not allow me to do that. My own priorities would not allow me to vote for any one of the three leading candidates. (Nader didn't make it onto our Ohio ballot, so that option wasn't really open, but you get the idea.) Now, I suppose, because I could not in conscious vote for Bush, either, some will denounce me--and my unbroken Conservative record--no holds barred defense of traditional American values and principles--goes back to my sophomore year in High School, longer ago than I like to admit.

We need to understand that most of our disagreements in the Conservative ranks go to the fact that we have different priorities. But as, in the long run, we need every Conservative spokesman we can muster, we need to stop hurling aspersions at one another over those differences, and start being glad for the areas where we can agree and fight along side of one another.

In such paramount issues as defending the rights of Americans to keep and bear arms and the limitations on big Government, as well as the preservation of American sovereignty and traditional values, there are few more stalwart allies than Bob Smith. Get over the one issue abuse and start thinking about the long road ahead.
