It disturbed me a little that in Ohio when everyone kept cheering for over five minutes he finally said "thank you, you have lifted our spirits". Usually you say, "you lifted our spirits" when you are feeling kind of down. Maybe it was just a poor choice of words, but I hope they are optimistic about winning.

I think that he found such enthusiasm in the face of a threat most heartening.

Laura looked concern behind GWB in Columbus.
The SS looked especially active and attentive during that rally.
That's why the Pres had his "spirits lifted" by the crowd.
