The Queen Mother was English, I believe, certainly moreso than anyone in the family she married into. Prince Philip may be half-Greek by ancestry and not just by family residence. The family is a mishmosh, but they are mostly German with English contributions by the Queen Mother and Princess Diana.

No question they're mostly German, and I have heard Philip referred to as a 'kilted Greek' but that's because one of his relatives was put on the Greek throne, but that lot were surely Germans as well. His grandfather was Prinz Louis von Battenberg, who was First Lord of the Admiralty in 1914 until someone decided it didn't look good.

I think you're right about the Queen Mother -- another decent English girl taken in by that 'German lot'. (Perhaps I am prejudiced slightly as the descendent not only of six veterans of the War for Independence, but (illegitimately) of John Lackland and (legitimately) of two of the barons who stood surety for Magna Charta)
