The terrorists are barking way up the wrong tree. Japan has told its citizens to stay out of Iraq, and the Japanese shun anyone who disobeys as a "troublemaker." If this gentleman was not supposed to be there, and he makes it out alive, he will be "welcomed" back to Japan with anger.

What does it take to convince the MSM that these murdering thugs are NOT militants.
Only those who think the WOT is a nuisance would call these thugs "militants."

The Japanese people have a tremendous amount of solidarity and cohesion. They are a noble people. I'd like to see a company of medieval Samurai warriors versus these Terrorist schmucks.

Not a member of the SDF, whatever he is. The SDF have grooming standards similar to the U.S. Forces, his hair is way too long.

Good observations, especially after the hassle the Japanese Government went through in getting several previous hostages released. Upon returning to Japan, instead of showing how relieved and happy they were to be home and appreciative of their Government's efforts, they simply stated that they wanted to go back to Iraq. They pretty much lost all credibility and sympathy among their countrymen for that. I think the Government even threatened to send them a bill for the efforts to free them (a couple hundred thousand dollars or so).
This guy with his long hair is no Jieitai soldier. Who is he and why is he in Iraq??

It would be nice if the Japanese would threaten to send in combat soldiers if the execute this poor guy. They should also remind them of the tradition of the Samurai and that they know how to cut off heads too!
To: Bandaneira
Yeah, and I don't think you will see this guy whining and blubbing before they do the deed. Nor will you see the weeks of public hand wringing that you saw in England. The Japanese know how to die like a man.
If one of those bastards gets ahold of you, it is a given that you will be missing your head. The only things served by all the whining is to encourage more kidnappings/beheadings. They already have your head, at least ruin their movie!
Alas, the English used to be a proud people that knew such things as well.

""The investigation will seek to determine whether inside information was obtained on the movement of troops and WHY THE TROOPS WERE UNARMED AND WITHOUT ARMED ESCORT," he said. "
This is what I would like to know too!

If I were faced with a beheading, with a dull knife, I cannot clearly predict whether I myself would babble and cry or fight and curse them. So, I don't think we can judge the actions of any of those who have been murdered via decapitation by those animals.

I'd like to see the Japanese send in a company of SDF combat soldiers .... all of them wearing the Wakazashi, Katana or daisho as rank permits.
