My mother was raised by emigrants to this country who lived through the great depression. She was taught (read: indoctrinated) to believe that democrats were for the little guy and the Republicans were for the rich. Period. End of story.
Despite all the evidence she sees today and all the evidence I try to present, she is unwavering. She refuses to see that today's democrats are not her parents' democrats. Today's democrats are socialists who will destroy this country if not stopped. They care nothing for the little guy and merely use the little guy for their own political ends and power.
Unfortunately, there are many more like my mother out there. If 9/11 didn't wake them up, nothing will in this life.
I see so much of that, and that's why they continue to win elections and remain in power, because of a lie. A BIG lie. As much pandering is done to the "undecided" perhaps some of those resources should be targeted at the "Well Meaning But Seriously Deluded," and that's where Esseff Sr. seems to be aiming.
Goodbye "Regular Joe" Democrat from this month's American Enterprise is awesome, and is worth printing to "have handy." My favorite part is the author's reference to "Learjet Liberalism."
