This Carter guy has to be the dumbest President we ever had. The Revolutionary War unnecessary? I guess Kerry thinks the Boston Tea Party was unnecessary because they should have just kept paying the taxes? King Kerry!

There is actually sort of a valid point; the colonies really had to be pushed a lot to rebel, and the revolution was basically the result of gross political incompetence on the part of the British; they very easily could have kept the whole thing from happening with fairly modest concessions and basically simply just a better attitude.

This idea doesn't originate with Carter and is the opinion of a lot of historians. The Revolution wasn't something that you would have expected to happen and it very easily could have been prevented by slightly more enlightened leadership in Britain.

I'd wager that a (gag me) President Kerry would insist we begin paying an income tax to the United Nations. After all, we have to pay our global fair share, don't you know.

There would be a tax revolt in America if people knew how "high" that tax was that the colonists rose up over.

Or even if they knew how little John Kerry and his billionairess wife paid in taxes.

Her income was declared at ~$2.1 million taxable. And another $2.8 tax exempt. She paid ~15.45% in state and federal taxes on the full $4.9million earned. Now then. her estate is worth $750million-$1billion; how much interest did that accrue in the last year? How much tax was paid on that growth of her estate?

Anyone out in FReeperland paying less that 15.45$ when you combine state, local, federal, FICA, etc?

Don't believe the billionaire gigolo when he claims he will cut your taxes. He doesn't pay them, someone has to.

Respectfully, I disagree.

James Earl Carter is as smart as a whip.

He does however (and in my nonprofessional opinion) have some loose screws (including an odd view of human nature that doesn't happen to recognize treachery even when it's biting him on the backside), and he is quite easily led by the far-left mind control agents.

In the world through Mister Carter's off-kilter eyes, bad people will become good people if you only treat then with kindness and respect. Hence, his legendary weakness in every facet of his presidency and post-presidency.

Carter's method of handling the cold war was to cut our military (certainly the Soviets would see the benign gesture and cut their military as well.) If that doesn't work, throw in the Panama Canal to show that we are serious about disarming.

Fast forward to his comment about the Revolutionary War. It's vintage Carter. By "negotiating" we can somehow get to a blissful consensus, especially if we roll over and display vulnerability and weakness. It's the Carter way (even though it's never really worked.) Everybody is reasonable, aren't they?

Also, listen to weakling Carter when he makes any sort of a statement. He nearly always refers to something he read in the "paper". So, it appears that al Reuters and al AP are leading a trusting Mister Carter down the "shining path".
