Soldiers secure a road in Taash, on the outskirts of Ramadi, Iraq, on Thursday. The troops were searching for a car used by an insurgent sniper who recently killed two soldiers in a three-day period.

Guard Duty on remote Iraq desert roads may seem dull, but it is only noticed  after the first 11 hours or so.

U.S. airmen salute during a repatriation ceremony at Yongsan Air Base in Seoul, South Korea, on Friday for the remains of U.S. soldiers who were killed during the Korean War.

Semi-finalists in the Air Force's proper saluting contest are competing for the prestigious championship trophy!

Pfc. Joe Erdman, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a member of the Iowa National Guard’s Alpha Company, 224th Engineer Battalion, hugs his wife, Ashley, prior to a send-off ceremony at Clark Field House in Burlington, Iowa, on Thursday. Members of the unit will train at Fort Sill, Okla., before being deployed to Iraq.

Gen. Richard Cody, left, swears in new Army recruits lined up in Times Square in New York City on Thursday as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Army Recruiting Command.

The new soup kitchens in New York City also include induction ceremonies into  the US Armed Forces.

Nah. I am just kidding. Thank you volunteers. They really have cleaned up Times Square. Now about that so called newspaper.

New Army recruits listen to Gen. Richard Cody as they eat cake after being sworn in at Times Square in New York City on Thursday.

Listen trainees, the food here is pretty good, but you have not lived until you have experienced the new 2005 version of the Army's MREs!

Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division’s 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, based out of Fort Bragg, N.C., get set to head out on a mission shortly after arriving at Forward Operating Base Zormat, Afghanistan, last week as part of a surge force leading up to the country’s landmark presidential elections that were held Oct. 9.

The New Army's Drama Troupe is putting on a modern day stage version of the Invisible Man which coincidently stars a dead ringer for Claude Rains.
