I think Rush is slightly off on this one. Kerry and Edwards are making an issue of Cheney's daughter to reinforce the impression within their base that Bush is a heartless and unthinking extremist who is behind the times on homosexual issues.

I think you've explained why they brought her name up. Still, it was a low blow.

They simply want evangelicals to stay home on Nov 2, thus handing them a victory.

Kerry doesn't have to reinforce beliefs with his base. He did it thinking it would stop some of the religious right from voting for bush?Chaney. Over all this will hurt Kerry. The religious right does not like to be pandered to and they don't like bring up the sex life of anyones children.

There are layers and layers of manipulation going on. Several political talking heads on Fox agreed today that the comments had been planned ahead of time, coordinated, and the aim was to scare the Bush camp and to keep down the Christian conservative vote. This makes sense. Anything that works. Not long ago, Pat Robertson put out a statement that he'd tell his flock to stay home on election day if GW pulled support for Israel. Maybe Carville thought, hey, this might just work. How can we use it against GW? Ah, Mary Cheney!

Nope it serves two purposes it drives to drive a wedge between Bush and Cheney and it is similar to the drunk drivin charge against Bush desigbed to drive away the CC vote
Wonder how the homosexual crowd feels about lebianism being used to smear Cheney from the democrats who supposedly have no bioas against homosexuality unless they can use it to smear
