WASHINGTON, DC - Former Congressman J.C. Watts today called on the Democratic National Committee campaign to retract a misleading television advertisement that questions President Bush’s commitment to African Americans and also questioned the accusations the DNC made this afternoon in a conference call to news media.

“Instead of discussing the significant strides that our country has seen in regards to race, Democrats choose to falsely claim that African Americans have not benefited from President Bush’s policies. “Nothing could be further from the truth. Under President Bush’s leadership, minority home ownership is at record levels, education funding has skyrocketed and millions of African Americans have benefited under the President’s Tax Relief Package.”

Watts noted that under President Bush’s leadership, the Republican Party has held more than 200 African American events, including an Empowerment Tour, Historically Black Colleges and Universities summits, and numerous meetings with African American community leaders, pastors and business leaders.

“Senator Kerry and the Democratic National Committee should be ashamed of themselves. The practice of dividing this country in respect to race and spreading bold face untruths is undignified for a Presidential candidate. By spreading these rumors and endorsing this behavior, they demean the intelligence of black voters in particular and all Americans in general,” Watts said.

"Undignified???" JC is being polite.

Not only are the Democrats and sKerry afraid the GOP agenda, they're deathly afraid of Black voters (like me) who are actually informed, and don't get all of our information from Tom Joyner or Tavis Smiley.

Here is a picture of Jesse Jackson marching with N.O.W. (National Organization of Women, a radical feminist group) members against Welfare Reform, along with the results of the reforms they opposed. State Reform took effect around 1992-1994 and the National Bill was passed in 1996. The Republicans swept the house in 1994 promising a ‘Contract with America’. People are the same the world over. It is the political structure and governmental interference that make all the difference. Get Government out of people’s lives and they will succeed. To believe people cannot succeed without government ‘help’ is to subscribe to what President Bush calls, ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations’. The reason they aren’t succeeding is BECAUSE of the government help! For some reason, saying these things and passing bills that help millions of people out of poverty is said by the left to be ‘cruel’, ‘hardnosed’ and ‘racist’.

When discussing politics to other blacks, I simply repeat what the President said on July, 23, of this year.

After a minute or two, they begin to nod their heads in agreement. I'm not saying that I'm changing many minds, but that's okay. I just bust up their misconceptions. After I mention gay marriage and the RATS support of it, the subject changes quickly.

Inch by inch...

Although anecdotal, I am seeing AA minds being changed. There are some polls to back that up. I'll never forget my father's comments years and years ago (and he's not a news hound or political junkie) that traditional AA families (and Hispanic too) are natural GOPers....

Abortion does it for me. I also ask the folks I encounter, hey forget about white people who annoy you. Do you think you'd be better off under Kerry or not? I'm glad I reminded a black business owner of Kerry's plans for anyone who wishes to pursue the American dream. Facts help A LOT when discussing issues.
