One great problem of the 1990s is that Clinton/algore viewed terrorism as a mere 'nuisance' and failed to take (or even consider) most of the steps needed to prevent a 9/11 or worse. For Kerry to express nostaligia for that failed approach in the NY TIMES is scandalous and should be devastating for his campaign prospects. Someone of his pre-9/11 mentality should never be president in 2005-09. He says in the same article that 9/11 barely changed him and then expresses this nostaligia for the days when he could regard terrorism as a 'nuisance' -- that's the "law enforcement" mentality of Clinton, algore, Reno, & company that brought us 9/11.

Who'd have thought Karl Rove's October suprises would include a complete meltdown by Kerry in just a handful of words?

This is really amazing. That moron, John Kerry actually believes that "Terrorism" is strictly a law enforcement problem. Karl Rove and GW Bush should go after this idiot with both barrels. This fool Kerry is a traitor!!! I guess he always has been. And....if the American people are so dumb, and elect this guy, then they deserve every thing that will come their way. Bin Laden and his boys must be getting their jollies tonight. Shoot, John Kerry might as well belly up to the bar with Bin Laden and company. Maybe they can teach him how to behead American citizens!!!

I hope Bush can get him tripped up Wednesday night to stumble like Friday night. POTUS isn't going to practice --Kerry plans to practice until the debate... in other words Carvell and Begalla are going to train the monkey some more.

Did any of you ever watch that horrible political thing George Clooney put on HBO last Fall? It showed the C & B training Howard Dean....

Team Bush has already produced an ad on this (just posted):

Bush-Cheney '04 Launches New Television Advertisement, "World View" (uses Kerry's "nuisance" line)

This doesn't strike me as being an outrageous statement.  Stupidly spoken: yes, but I wouldn't make hay of it.

It's easy to see the context of this statement, although it's a very, very poor choice of words.

It's no where near as bad, clueless or outrageous as the statements he's made about selling Iran uranium or justifying our military actions before world opinion.  Which just freaks me out.

"it we try to say that Kerry thinks terrorism today is nothing more than a nuisance"

But that IS what he thinks:

"The threat of terrorism is exaggerated." JFK, 1-29-04, Democrat primary debate

That was funny! It's unbelievable, isn't it? In Italian we'd call him a strunze, which loosely (and not so loosely) translates into stool.

Disclaimer: My spelling of strunze may be off, the dialect is funny that way...

"When I asked Kerry what it would take for Americans to feel safe again, he displayed a much less apocalyptic worldview. ''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said. ''As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life."

If Ketchup Boy wins in November, the Japanese would have been 64 years early with Pearl Harbor, the Germans would have been 89 years early with the Lusitania, the Brits would have been just under 200 years early with "impressing" our merchant marine into their Navy (need I go on)?

Here lies THE FUNDAMENTAL difference between the DemonRATs and the Pubbies (even more so than taxes and size/scope of government). The RATs see terrorism as nothing more serious than prostitution and organized crime, and as something to be "managed" and tolerated. The Pubbies see terrorism as a means of warfare to be thoroughly defeated. Take a guess as to which argument rings truer to the terrorists (hint; they see terrorism as a means of warfare to threaten and ultimately change "the fabric of your life".)
