The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Monday, October 11, outside the MCI Center as we freep the pro-Kerry Vote for Change concert tour's grand finale, aka Saddam-Aid 2004.
The sold-out concert (about 18,000 seats) features 13 of the acts that started touring this week as a benefit for America Coming Together. The tour is sponsored by MoveOn Pac. The acts playing the MCI Center are: Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Dave Matthews Band, the Dixie Chicks, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Jurassic 5, Keb' Mo', Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Pearl Jam, and R.E.M.
MoveOn Pac is employing a media blitz for this show. It will be shown live on the Sundance Channel and will be carried on satellite radio as well as on the internet. They are trying to get broadcast radio interested in airing it live, also. They are encouraging their members to have house parties that night.
The D.C. Chapter will be joined by members of Vietnam Veterans for the Truth in this demonstration. We intend to have alot of fun with this, but we will have a very serious point: That John Kerry and the Democrats can not be trusted to protect America.
When: Monday, October 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the latest (show starts at 7 p.m.)
Where: The sidewalk in front of 650 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C., across the street from the MCI Center's main entrance.
Bring: Signs, banners and American flags.
Subjects: Kerry, Edwards, the 'Rats, the musicians, MoveOn, ACT, etc., are all fair game for freeping.
Pro-Bush and pro-Operation Iraqi Freedom signs will be most welcomed by us.
Metro: Take the Red, Green or Yellow lines to the Gallery Place/Chinatown station. Exit on the F Street side. Please note, the Red line will not be running between Union Station and Fort Totten that day.
Parking: Street parking will be tight, but meters and weekday restrictions will be lifted for the Columbus Day holiday. Several pay parking garages are nearby.
This is a permitted demonstration.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
