Perhaps it was inevitable for a third-party, independent, political-action committee holding a concert to raise funds for another third-party committee, but last night, before the show, a Presbyterian minister was outside Heinz Hall scalping tickets.
"I'm going into the concert. I bought two extra tickets so I'm trying to get rid of them," explained the Rev. Tom Query. He flew from Atlanta to Pittsburgh yesterday for the Vote for Change Concert, one of a series of shows featuring top-name artists supporting Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
He wasn't trying to turn a profit -- just make sure the tickets to the sold-out show weren't wasted.
The concert was sponsored by MoveOn.org, an anti-Bush political action committee. Funds raised benefit Americans Coming Together, a ground-level group organizing pro-Kerry voters on Election Day.

Inside, ACT volunteers were finding it hard to register voters who were, by and large, already sufficiently interested in politics to have shelled out more than $60 each for a concert to raise funds for a presidential campaign.
"We found five who weren't registered," said Bryce Dowd, an ACT volunteer from New York City. "I found one who was apathetic. He said he wasn't interested in registering. Maybe after the show."

Sorry to hear that ... ROFLOL !!!!
don't worry, there are other hardcore dems that will vote 5, 10, or 20 times to make up for it.
The dems can just listen to their music and read their newspapers as long as they leave me alone.
Today, in the NYT, they've essentially accused Bush of TREASON.
That's unacceptable.
Now I'm mad.
And you're new to FR - Welcome !
...and a note from your compiler of links- near the "last" are links about Project Vote, PIGRIM, and other far-Left pressure groups who hide under the "activist" label while subverting representative government.
These nasty characters demean and dilute the value of everyone's vote.
The plan, besides their hope of throwing the election to sKerry, is to so thoroughly corrupt the election results that Mr. Bush will either not be taken seriously, or open to impeachment.
You had better take this stuff seriously- it is a dagger aimed at the heart of the Republic.
