The 200 plus folks signing on FR daily is not automaically good!

Yup, but I find it interesting also, the trolls and sleepers. It's like liberals who frequently listen to Rush. I think it's because they are intrigued and NOT so much that they "are listening to the message of the enemy" or whatever lame excuse they offer about listening.

As a conservative I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to lurk at DUmmyville or tune into Err America....ever! I am so disinterested in what they have to say, (mostly because I already know it and it's so predictable) that I never even think of purposely listening to their drivel. So methinks the libs are more interested than they like to admit.

I was just about to say that. Good thing I read your response first! LOL

There is not a soul on this planet that doesn't know Bush's position on the WOT & national security in general. They could have put a cardboard cut out of G.W. on that stage and it wouldn't have hurt him. Kerry cannot NOT win this debate on this issue. He can only win on style, and style has no staying power with footage of Bush on the campaign trail erasing Thursday night's pictures with Kerry's own words.

"I don't think the public is capable of voting style over substance anymore. 9/11."

Then how did W. lose ground in any poll?

You're a Freeper whom I respect greatly and the crestfallen nature of your "take" on that little puppy unt pony show eludes me completely.

It must be the high expectations I had for this debate.

I mean, after trailing Kerry in the polls for months, Bush not only got a convention bounce but had a lead..for several polls..FINALLY.

With Americans finally seeming to get that National Security was the most important issue...
and the Swifties helping to nullify Kerry's "war hero" card ..
and polls showing Bush was the strongest in leadership on Iraq and terrorism ...
and Kerry's flip-flopping reputation was sticking..

Things were not only headed in the right direction but the voters FINALLY seemed to get it.

The first debate on Iraq/National Security/Terrorism was Bush's golden opportunity to take advantage of the momentum and play his STRONGEST card. He could have and should have put Kerry away.

He should have been on the offensive. Instead he was defensive.

He should have been confident. Instead he looked and acted unsure of himself.

Her should have known all of Kerry's flip-flops like the back of his hand and exploited his vulnerabilities, but instead Bush managed to come off as weak and frustrated.

I find this unbeleivable.

Bush managed to take a HUGE advantage coming into the debate and undo all of it with an awful debate performance that not only made Kerry look better, but gave the Dems all kinds of images to make fun of Bush with.

Yes I am "crestfallen".

I have this awful feeling that Bush has given Kerry the opening he needed to turn the tables in this race with only a few weeks left. I hope to God Bush wins in 4 weeks but after that debate I am bracing for the worst.

WOW! that really stung me. I have repented for voting for Clinton twice and Gore in 2000. I'm pretty sure God has forgiven me for those transgressions. I hope you can. I'm now a registered Republican, as is my hubby, and 4 of our children.

I hope this is wrong.

So do I. I hate giving the leftist Kerry any hope of winning. One thing is for sure: We the average concerned citizen must get out there and make sure that our president wins. I am making that my sacred duty to America

Listen to Hugh Hewitt's take on the KRLA 870 webcast when you get some time out this weekend Jorge.

He nailed it IMO.

You care, therfore you worry. Hopefully you'll be heartened.

I do, and I was.

Regards!

As I noted earlier, the poll is b.s. Here are the particulars via Power Line Blog...

UPDATE: Reader Meg Kreikemeier points out that according to RealClearPolitics, Newsweek's most recent poll included 345 Republicans, 364 Democrats and 278 independents. This compares to Newsweek's published data for their most recent prior poll, which showed President Bush with a comfortable lead: 391 Republicans,
300 Democrats and 270 independents. Yes, if you drop 46 Republicans and add 64 Democrats, you will get considerably better results for the Democratic nominee. This is a good reminder of why poll data always need to be taken with a grain of salt, especially until you see the underlying data.

My point about the Newsweek poll, however, was not that it was right, but that it and others like it will be the basis for a media effort to give the Kerry campaign momentum going down the stretch.

HINDROCKET adds: Dafydd ab Hugh weighs in:

Bush was doing 9 points better than Kerry among their respective parties in the last poll, and he's doing 9 points better than Kerry among their respective parties in this poll; and in addition, Kerry was up by 6 among independents last time but is only up by five this time. In absolute terms, Kerry lost support slightly in the new survey... but realistically, there was no statistical change whatsoever between the two.
But wait -- then how did Bush drop from being up by 6 last time (49-93) to being down by 2 this time (45-47)? Very simply:

Newsweek's sample had almost 41% Republicans last time but only 35% this time, and only 31% Democrats last time vs. 37% Democrats this time.

"IMO" equals "In my opinion"

I used to put an "H" (for Humble) in between the M and H, but nobody here is falling for that ruse anymore.
