Kurtz also reports Fox rejected one of two new Media Fund ads, the one about "the Saudis have invested tens of millions of dollars in Bush business ventures."

Yeah, so what is the problem.
Treason is punishable by death.

I've seen it a few times on Fox as a news item. It has the same effect either way.

My husband and I were surprised to see CNN ads on Fox News. What's up with that?

This is the headline: "Ad Renews Charges of Bush-Saudi Ties". Your headline is misleading.
The body of the story is about the attack ads on Bush being rejected!

As several on this thread have noted, this needs to be playing somewhere besides FOX anyway.
Fox management no doubt realizes this, and is taking the opportunity to bolster their "Fair and Balanced" credentials.

When I saw the ad, it said "Betrayal" not Treason. Two different animals in MHO.

Fine don't air the commercial. Investigate what is says. Start by contacting Judicial Watch, as they got the FBI documents through FOIA. Come on FOX. Do your work! Do your jobs!! Also too, check Kerry's testimony in the Senate committee, where Kerry clearly says he met with "both sides" & neither of the sides mentioned were the United States.
One more thing, Al Gore's speech was aired on FOX a bunch of times. "GEORGE BUSH BETRAYED THIS COUNTRY". Gore made the same claim, "betrayal of the country" & it got air time. Just because Gore looks like a crazed lunatic as he makes the claim, doesn't wipe out what he said.

I'm glad Fox rejected it. that kind of rhetoric is in the extreme and does our side no good.

If Fox News accepted the first SwiftVets ad, then they're really splitting hairs to reject this one:
Ad #1 (Any Questions?): "John Kerry betrayed the men and women he served with in Vietnam." -- Shelton White. "He dishonored his country; he most certainly did." -- Joe Ponder.
Ad #6 (Friends): "In a time of war, can Americans trust a man who betrayed his country?" -- voiceover.
To: ironman
What ever happened to "We report, you decide"? When the vp starts making decisions on what will air, a chink in fox's armor will develop. I guess if you don't run any news (the two opposing articles in this case) you could be called fair and balanced.

I guess it is ok to say that Kerry lied and is unfit to be CIC, as the initial ad said. You just can't say that he betrayed his comrades and country. The distinction is lost on me in terms of libel law.

This gives other stations an excuse not to run the ad. They can't point to Fox and say, "see, even Fox won't run it."
To: ironman
And?
What is the problem here?

She [Vice President Dianne Brandi] also turned down the latest spot from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth because it "accuses Kerry of treason, a crime punishable by death." Is it or is it not the truth? The man is a traitor. He's just been protected from paying the penalties by friends in high places.
