""Every American now knows that there's something really screwy about George Bush and the National Guard ..." said Douglas Brinkley"

There is nothing screwy about Bush's National Guard service.

"Every American now knows that there's something really fishy about George Bush and the National Guard........."

Tsk, tsk. Good journalists and historians do NOT employ the propaganda technique of "sweeping generalities". Please prove that EVERY American knows and believes this Democrat fish story.

It would be like me stating "Every American now knows that there's something really fishy about George Bush, the National Guard, Joe Lockhart, Burkett, Mapes and Kerry".

Being ethical in writing such a sentence as he did, I wouldn't use the word "every".......maybe "most" or "many".

But then, I'm not a vaunted "historian", just a non-liar.....and my name is MinuteGal, not Goebbels.

"I can picture the day 20 or 30 years from now when there will be old men in nursing homes beating each other with their canes over Vietnam."....

I've got no problem with that.

Seems someone let the effects of the Koolaid wear off.

Never fear. Pharmaceutical companies are hard at work on a Kool-Aide dispensing patch that you apply for seven days, that maintains a constant level of Kool-Aide in the blood. All the Liberal has to do is remember to replace the patch once a week to maintain a constant political outlook.

The next step, of course, will be a mandated clinic visit once a week so the patch can be re-applied by a trained professional...

Every American who doesn't know should be told that somehow, a young George Bush managed to log hundreds of hours in the F-102, a dangerous fighter aircraft. It has been reported that 70 pilots were killed while flying this plane. He DID NOT spend all his time in Alabama!

Mr. Kerry's nemesis, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is spending $1.3 million in five swing states with a spot accusing him of meeting with the enemy in Paris - a reference to his trip to the Paris peace talks, where he met with both sides.

My understanding is that he met with the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese delegations, I don't think he met with the US delegation. She is trying to make it sound like it wasn't a meeting with the enemy only.

Also, my understanding is that there were no planes that Bush could fly in Alabama, because he wasn't trained on the planes they had.

At the same time, Texans for Truth, which has offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who can document seeing Mr. Bush fulfill his Guard duty in Alabama, has bought $10,000 of television time in five swing markets with an advertisement titled "Choose Honor," which calls on the president to authorize release of all his military records.

Correct me if I'm wrong unbiased NYTs journalist, but I believe George Bush HAS signed his S.F. 180 and Kerry HAS NOT. Why not add that important fact to the story? Hum???

That is also my understanding! In addition, Col. William Campenni, who flew with Dubya, said that the F-102 was being replaced with a more modern fighter in the TANG, and that young George didn't have enough time remaining in service to justify the months of training required. No physical was required!

$10,000? How much time will that buy? I thought TfT was funded by some high-roller Texas DemocRats?

John Kerry is not the war hero the he thought he was, either.

David Brinkley trying to salvage a sinking career.

Hey, David, don't worry. You can always try for a spot on the Weekly World News where you can write biographies on space aliens supporting Kerry.

Yeah. Which is why I said Brinkley's attempt at moral equivalence is simply whistling past the graveyard by a man whose own credibility as an historian has been destroyed almost as completely as Dan Rather's.
