Lied. VOGEL and BASSI misrepresented their plan to spend an equivalent of the public-speaking budget on an alternative viewpoint. It was not until after the administration told them they had to; and after the majority of the funds had been committed that they chose to seek alternative speakers with the small budget remaining.
Withheld information. They chose to delay the announcement of Moore's appearance, knowing the controversy it would bring. The information had to be leaked to the press before the student body was generally aware of the plan. They continue to refuse to divulge the contents of the contract or the student government budget without a special bureaucratic request.
Misused Funds. While the funds in question are not public, they involve student fees paid by every UVSC student. VOGEL and BASSI chose to spend appropriated monies without a clear majority of the Student Government and student body support. They spent so much of their budget on this single speaker that there is no hope of funding an alternative viewpoint of similar gravity without additional funds. Additionally, research shows that VOGEL and BASSI were willing to pay up to $20,000 more than other institutions to have Moore come to UVSC.
Misrepresented the UVSC community. VOGEL and BASSI have insisted on inviting an unqualified political spokesman to campus on the eve of the National Election -- fully knowing the controversy it would bring. This demonstrates a cavalier pride and a blatant disdain for the very community in which UVSC must operate and from which UVSC draws its student body and support.
Denied Academic Freedom. VOGEL and BASSI have approved a contract that denies access to UVSC students and prevents the College from leveraging this "Student Activity" for academic purposes (e.g. re-broadcast, transcripts, seminar groups and general student access.) Instead, only 3,000 student tickets are generally available and the rest of the event is controlled through ticket-master.
Used Poor Judgment. VOGEL and BASSI could have invited an intellectually engaging and credible spokesperson for the liberal-point of view rather than someone who is making a living from politically exploiting the tragedy of thousands of Americans through his "documentaries." Instead, by responding to an e-mail calculated to entice impressionable students, VOGEL and BASSI lost all objectivity and foolishly squandered student resources.
In an act to get attention and bolster their pride, VOGEL and BASSI forsook their positions of trust in the UVSC community. They surrendered their leadership the moment the stopped serving the UVSC student body. For this reason, they must either resign or be recalled.

Liberal pukes love to spend other peoples money to push their agenda. Through dues, of course. Just like unions. Take their money and spend it on things you oppose.
I'm hoping this will finally bring enough attention to these 'activity fees' that the legislature will abolish them. My father thought they were ridiculous when he went to school, I thought they were. The fees are only spent on the student government's pet projects. I had to pay for all the clubs I joined (around twenty bucks) while I spent hundreds in 'fees' for the council to fully fund their friend's club. A crock of crap.
They personally ought to be made to pay for his appearance, I would think.
If I get a chance over the next few days, I'll do some legal research and talk to a few other savvy attorneys I know in Salt Lake.
Wow, Bassi and Vogel even have the liberal 'the ends justify the means' down pat. Yes, we in Utah County must have our views diversified, and therefore it rationalizes the devious means these two used. My question is: where was the faculty advisor in all of this???
I just can't believe they would be dumb enough to invite Moore! If they would've invited some other lib politician, you would've heard nothing. Instead, they go for a guy who lives in a complete fantasyland. Moore even lies about where he grew up (in F911 - he states Flint; he grew up in much more affluent Davison, Michigan)!
It is really pathetic how low our major Universities have sunk.
