Ok - so I'm behind on my reading - but did anyone notice on the Democrats.com article referred to in Enchante's post (http://democrats.com/view.cfm?id=23055) that it lists Burkett as retired from the AIR National Guard rather than the ARMY National Guard - and btw, I followed some of the other links from there - these guys are certifiable... jeez.

Exactly, his March 3 story about receiving them from a mystery man is so bogus!

It was dark and stormy night... the man(?) was short, waddled, and was wearing a dingy colored crusty pant suit.

Yea, my regular talk radio host was on vacation and all the replacement wanted to talk about was hurricanes. I went through channels and came across Hot Air America and decided to listen for a bit. They are certifiable. The callers were talking about the RNC closing the polls due to terrorists threats so George would automatically be in office for another four years. I was amazed. They are so depressing with their end of the world scenarios that I almost put a bullet in my head. No wonder Hot Air America cannot make it on the air, they drive their limited listeners to suicide. I didn't even know they were on in my area, which is Miami. I would have thought they would have gotten the word out a little better.

Yeah, I only glanced around that site for about 30 seconds (aside from reading Burkett's foolish article), but it does look like the loony bin. I do think that someone reading Burkett's article there on or after Aug. 13 might have decided to do the forgeries -- they would have been enraged at how the Swiftees were hurting Kerry's carefully crafted war hero image, and would have thought that there really OUGHT to be some useful documents created in Killian's name in order to further Burkett's thesis. That's just one possible point of departure for the forger, of course, but it seems plausible....

Is this a possibility? (Just letting my mind wonder here.) Perhaps Kerry's camp, (ie Joe) knew all along about the papers--that Joe had those fake papers all along--knew about them--that these papers went FROM the Kerry camp (mayber Joe) TO one of their contacts in Texas (alias Lucy Ramirez) to THEN be passed on to a knowingly willing retired Texan who could be "encouraged" to pass this info on to CBS?

I don't know what Drudge has got beyond the teaser. It seems to me though that Burkett, who has not backed off his obsession with destroying Bush, wouldn't sell out the Dems. With the information available now, I agree with your thoughts. If Burkett says the Dems were begging for the documents that says they didn't have them. I don't believe that's the case.

This is FAR more serious than Watergate. As Buchanan pointed out just 2/3 nites ago, Watergate was nothing more than a break-in to get REAL (unforged, unfake, actual, real, palpable) "documents" that would link Larry O'Brien to illegal campaign funds. (They weren't even going to TAKE them--just photograph them.) THIS is commissioning, using, and lying about FORGED documents that would influence a national election in the middle of a war. But the MSM will NEVER see things that way. Watergate's the big kahoona, and no DEMOCRAT scandal's ever going to be THAT big.

I'm thinking that Burkett--purportedly having seen the memos or something like them in the trashbin way back when--described what he saw to "someone." "Someone" asked a few questions about what they might look like, did a teensy bit of research (maybe even tweaking Burkett's "memory" of the nonexistent things), created them, and allowed Burkett to receive them. Burkett can't believe his luck--literally! So he insists that they be authenticated. CBS does its job of authenticating and the rest is history. "Someone" could be Mapes at Lockhardt's request or one of Kerry's band of (Army) VVAW brothers. Mapes knows whom to trust in Texas to make the delivery (Lucy R?) to Burkett and arranged to send them on to CBS. Some plausible deniability, some lying, some forging, some conspiracy, some dupes.

Like the docs that are forgries and so nothing in them has credibility, so, too, is Burkett. Once you know that someone has lied, you must be skeptical of everything he says.

Not according to the Dan man himself--remember how on O'Reilly he said (in regard to Clinton) that a person can lie but still be an honest man? Shouldn't the same go for Burkett?
