I'm absolutely struck by the parallels between what is happening with CBS and what happened to Richard Nixon with Watergate. It seems that CBS is walking down an identical course as did the Nixon White House. In the same vein, I don't think this thing is anywhere near over.

Perhaps that's why sKerry/dEdwards have been scarce for weeks (Except of course, for the odd late night talk show appearance [shades of Arsenio?]). They thought their little Trick or Treat would be the sugar rush to take them across the finish line.
Afterall, there's no sense in making appearances that might be disadvantageous when you're holding a hole card.
What? Are these people that stupid? Even if everything in the memo's were correct it would have had little impact on this election. I can't believe polls were taken before and right after the 60 min show would have shown much of an impact at all. These people are so desperate for anything on Bush that they chase a National Guard story? Incredible.

Barnes was aware CBS was doing a story. It is entirely likely he knew in advance about the memos.

While it may not have had the desired (by the Kerrys, et al) if the docs had been authentic, isn't that statement by the Co-Chair of the Kerry Campaign, "the election is over" the smoking gun that THAT is what they intended. And isn't that TAMPERING WITH AN ELECTION?!

You are definitely onto something big! Wish we could see all of the perps grilled under bright lights round-the-clock until one of them squeals!

This could be the point at which the whole thing begins to unravel, if we could put enough public pressure on CBS to force them to reveal the details of the actual timeline! Barnes will never cooperate, of course, but CBS is part of a publicly traded company that now purports to be ready to do a full investigation -- they would have a hard time covering up from their own "blue ribbon panel" the actual timeline unless they have already sanitized all the hard drives, etc. Even then the phone records may give away the real nature of the conspiracy. If Barnes did see or know about the forgeries before CBS had them, then the pressure point is CBS to explain why they lied about how they got Barnes to go on the air, how Barnes obtained prior knowledge, etc.

This came from Kerry Edwards Press releases and indicates the Dems had the date of alleged "verbal orders" found in the forged documents.
"FACT: The order suspending Bush from flight duty stated: “Verbal orders of the Comdr on 1 Aug 72 suspending 1STLT George W. Bush…from flying status are confirmed…Reason for Suspension: Failure to accomplish annual medical examination. Off will comply with para 2-10, AFM 35-13. Authority: Para 2-29m, AFM 35-13. [Aeronautical Orders, Number 87, 29 September 1972, emphasis added]"
Rush mentioned this today. It would not be remarkable except that it was put out on 27 April, 2004.
