Kerry Aide Talked to Retired Guard Officer
|"So what's going on here? Okay, according to what's being pieced together, Burkett wanted to play Kerry campaign strategist, and to get the bigwigs at the Kerry campaign to use his memos that he, apparently, thought would be convincing. Mapes (presuming this female producer Lockhart is talking about is Mapes) wanted the memos. Burkett offers to trade the memos for an introduction to the Kerry campaign. Mapes calls the Kerry camp and eventually reaches Lockhart. Lockhart agrees to the favor, since when a "60 Minutes" producer asks you for a favor, you do it. (Building good relations with the press and all that.) Lockhart talks with Burkett... " "Lockhart said Mapes asked him the weekend before the story broke to call Burkett. ... Mapes told him there were some records "that might move the story forward. She didn't tell me what they said.""|

His new book "Bush's Brain: How Karl Rove Made Bush Presidential" was first published on February 21, 2004. In an article dated April 27, 2004 for salon.com titled Bush's Flight from the Guard (Alternate Link), Moore says, "I leaked Burkett's story to the national media shortly after filmmaker Michael Moore described the president as a "deserter" and set off a furor".|

WOW....very impressive....thanks much!
Bump for later reading.
Hobson--There may be something about February 2004 that is important here. That is when Burkett claims he got the docs at the Houston live stock show. Somebody over at Little Green Footballs.com has posted that a copy of one of the memos he/she downloaded showed in its computer DNA that it was "created" in February 2004. Others have posted that their copies showed to be created in September 2004.
As I understand what this means -- if the poster is correct -- is that a copy of the memo in question was downloaded or scanned to a computer in February, and such memo made it to the CBS website where this poster downloaded it.
Perhaps you know more about this computer stuff than I do. If so, check out what they are saying over at Little Green Footballs.
Too bad you didn't reference the Hildebeast's planned October surprise.
With your input I will add attributions to FreeRepublic and Freepers to the chart images.
Are you going to create a ping list? If so, add me to it...thanks!
Very interesting. February is the month Michael Moore and James Moore began to turn up the heat. I'll check out LGF.
Never had one before but I will create a ping list.
Thanks sweetie! I bet I'm not the only one who wants to keep up to the minute on this scandal. I'm in & out so much I'm afraid I'll miss something. Thanks again.
Just posted on FR--"kerry campaign touted contents of memos in April"
