Excellent suggestion. The GPS would also have to have some kind of radio, either active or passive so it could be detected, which would mean the terrorists could also detect it.

It's been said that their Iraqi bodyguards acted nervous and then didn't turn up. So they had inside information the Americans were being targeted. The Americans were frightened, but evidently didn't make it to an embassy or American troops in time. And yes, they should have a GPS chip implanted before they ever take a job overseas.

GPS devices receive signals from satellites, they do not transmit them. A person would have to have a device that received the gps signal to determine location AND a "satellite phone" like transmitter for anyone to respond in real time. This transmitter likely wouldn't be very small.

What would be more practical and possibly feasible would be to implant a gps receiving device and a "black box" type device that records all the locations you have been. Unfortunately, this would only be useful to others once your body was possibly recovered.

Yes! These contractors, as well as other Westerners working in Iraq, should be well armed and carry GPS systems. The same goes for our American soldiers. And I believe we are still missing an American soldier in Iraq, whom I pray for frequently. I want him to know he has not been forgotten.

If these terrorists held me captive, I'd rather die in a fight by bullets or whatever, than be beheaded. I believe these people are pure evil and frankly, I hate them beyond belief.
