CBS Supporter Tries to Shut Down RatherBiased.com
RatherBiased.com ^

Posted on 09/18/2004 7:24:50 AM PDT by RatherBiased.com

A person who very obviously does not believe in free speech attempted to shut down RatherBiased.com early this morning by filing a bogus complaint with our internet presence provider. We apologize for any inconvenience this "thoughtful" person has caused among any of our readers here on FreeRepublic.com

The MSM is dying; it no longer has a lock on the control of information. The Rather incident proves the partisan bias of some (if not all) in the MSM. We are witnessing a radical paradigm shift, and the "establishment" (AKA MSM) is fighting it.

LOL. Free speech libs! When Hannity was first breaking the swifties story on radio, the swifts wemaster said his site was at that moment under a denial of service attack. Libs only want free speech for their generally illogical point of view. Their tolerance is for NAMBLA, communism, whatever, just not tradition, righteousness or conservatism.

Not that I care, but what do they mean "filing a complaint" with their service provider?

The individual filed a trumped up complaint with our server company about possible network abuse. And they promptly disabled our account without even warning us.

Seems like the service provider is as much to blame as the dope.

MEDIA ETHICS PROJECT SEEKS FCC RULING AGAINST CBS NEWS FOR RATHERGATE

Media Ethics Project (“MEP”) of New York today petitioned the FCC to sanction CBS News and its parent organization, Viacom, Inc., for its recent broadcast of news reports based on forged documents.

In announcing the FCC filing, MEP Chairman William L. Whitely stated: “Most people familiar with Dan Rather’s reports have seen solid evidence from various credible sources showing the documents to be forged. Yet, day in and day out, CBS has stubbornly continued to maintain that the memos are authentic. This supremely arrogant conduct violates the public trust and FCC rules and policies. Viacom cannot be allowed to flaunt the Commission’s rules in this manner. ”

MEP seeks a ruling by the FCC finding that the deliberate actions of CBS and Viacom maintaining the authenticity of the documents, constitute broadcasting of falsified, faked, distorted or staged news reports in violation of e Commission policies. MEP is asking the FCC to sanction Viacom including imposing fines and ordering forfeiture of one or more broadcast licenses .

Mr. Whitely added that, “This whole episode must be regarded as a remarkable failure of management. It is truly sad that the proud traditions of professionalism of CBS News, the division built by the likes of Morrow, Severeid, Reasoner, Mudd and Cronkite, have been allowed to slowly fade away. In their place is an organization where unprincipled ego, bias, negligence, partisanship and vindictiveness apparently determine the setting of management policy. Such changes are not in the best interest of CBS, the CBS affiliates and CBS shareholders, nor, most certainly, are they in the public interest as well. Staying to this course, the House that Paley Built will likely become the Network that Rather Wrecked.”

MEP has asked that the FCC expedite its consideration of the group’s Petition for Declaratory Ruling against CBS News.

See a full copy of the MEP Petition for Declaratory Ruling at http://mediaethicsproject.blogspot.com/ or www.mediaethics.8k.com

With MEP's filing, the FCC now has a formal Petition to review requesting that CBS be found guilty for violating Commission policy prohibiting the broadcasting of falsified, faked, distorted or staged news reports as contrary to the public interest.

All interested parties will now be able to contact the FCC to request that it take immediate action on the MEDIA ETHICS PROJECT Petition For Declaratory Ruling Against CBS News.

It was not the conservatives that G. Orwell was talking of in his book 1984 it was the libs. All of the libs over 55 (same age as me) had to read that book in school and learn about Orwell's life and conversion from lib to conservative. Guess as now they just didn't listen or learn then either.

How foolish of ol' Dannyboy to finally provide us with a symbol of their bias which is simultaneously:
* vivid,
* persuasive, and
* memorable.

In that sense it's like "Pearl Harbor" or "Watergate" or "Remember the Maine."

The Old Media is history. The last week has been one of the most exciting that we've seen in a long time. Everyone here realizes the incredible change, which has been coming for the last 15 years or so, has come to fruition. The fact that O'Reilly and the rest of the Old Media refers to us as "right-wing partisan bloggers" is irrelevant. Let them continue to try to dismiss us. The fact remains that this forum, Talk Radio, and Fox News (in that order) brought CBS News to its knees.

I would like to see some discussion on this forum about ways that we can affect change in other areas, such as illegal immigration, big government, and so on.
