Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

Ie, they're fake, but we believe what they say.

They've had further review - they're FORGERIES. It's Dan Rather's contract that deserves further review. It's the weekly scheduling of 60 Minutes that deserves further review. These LIARs are nothing but arrogant.

How nice of him. They've already been reviewed more times than
Gone With the Wind.

Clarification, Clarification we don't need no stinking clarification.

So let me get this straight, The PRESIDENT OF CBS NEWS, Andrew Heyward, has had PR put out all day that a statement would be released, at 12:30, at 2:30 at 4:00, and now what he releases is THIS?
This is no different that what Rather said last Friday night.
Look out for Wall Street, Andrew.
To: Sleeping Freeper
These people are pathetic. The President of CBS News takes all day to compose a short statement, and he can't even spell.
*Corroborating*

Great job! I have been waiting for FR to post this. Did not want to give SeeBS any ratings. What a bunch of jerks, Ha?

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO AUTHENTICATE A PHOTOCOPY CBS?

Hope I've done it right. Most people start posting stories that are relatively minor. Not you, though -- you jump into the deep end of the pool with much anticipated information on one of the biggest stories of the year. Good post!

Do you suppose they have created more documents and that is what is taking so long?
To: Sleeping Freeper
Heyward's best solution is to get Rather to step down. That ain't happening, no way. So if Heyward cannot get Rather to step down he doesn't have a solution. That means if Heyward cannot effect a solution, Heyward becomes the problem. The longer it goes the more likely, those who run the company get rid of the problem by getting rid of both of them. Howell Raines took the fall that no one thought that he would have to. Today was key for both Heyward and Rather. The longer it continues the more likely they both go. They are not bigger than the company, even it is losing enterprise.

Hello,
Oh my gosh, we both lurked here that long! I do love saying this: Welcome to Free Republic!!
Glad to be here, MOgirl
PS: Rather is a pathetic idiot who needs to pack up his desk, go home, and never be seen or heard in public again. I mean this in the nicest way possible, of course.

My Release at 2:00 pm came true unbelievable
News Release:
CBS has some reservation whether the documents are real, but the facts in the documents are real. If President Bush would answer the facts of the documents this controversy would be over.
