A Black Eye for CBS News (LAT, NEW & different from others with similar titles)
LAT ^ | Sept. 15, 2004 | LAT News

CBS News has been had. It's hard to reach any other conclusion about newly discovered documents that CBS and anchor Dan Rather are defending as revealing the truth about George W. Bush's military service.

Despite Rather's statement Monday that the network "believes the documents are authentic," the evidence keeps mounting that they are not. As The Times reported, conservative bloggers detected glaring inconsistencies, such as a Microsoft Word type style. So many other discrepancies have since emerged that it would require a willful suspension of disbelief to take them as merely coincidental.

It doesn't take documents for anyone to realize that . Bush pulled strings to get into the National Guard. And, during the Vietnam draft, nobody went into the National Guard out of passion to defend his country. It also doesn't take new documents to establish that Bush shirked even his National Guard duties when he moved to Alabama and then to Harvard Business School.

Read that last paragraph -- these are the current Dem talking points.

"We don't need no stinking evidence".

But even the LAT admits that in view of the amount of evidence about the memos being fake, "it would require a willful suspension of disbelief to take them as merely coincidental."

What a snotty little editorial.

They know they've been had, and are pissed.

I would not want to be found on the side of those who make such a sweeping assertion.

It's OK, "Bush didn't show" is going to pale in comparison to "Kerry Killed the Kid" that is going across the web now.

You'd think if they were going to print DNC talking points, they would at least change some of the wording around a bit.

What do they mean that CBS has been had? The people at CBS cannot be such rubes that they did not suspect the docs as frauds. They willfully chose to go along with the scam. In my mind, they are not victims but accessories to a crime.

WHERE IN THE _____ DID THIS PARAGRAPH FIT IN? Notice the BIAS leaning words? Must have been added later by the left leaning editor. It certainly doesn't fit the style of pattern of the rest of the article. JMO

CBS may have managed to place Bush's Vietnam-era service off-limits as a campaign issue, after weeks when John F. Kerry's impressive record has been under savage attack. Bush gave a smirky speech Monday to the National Guard Assn., waxing on about the patriotic sacrifices of the Guard's men and women over the years.

Well, it reads like one, but it was in their NEWS section, NOT the editorial section.

Michael Kinsley has taken over as editor of the LA Times editorial page where truth and patriotism is beheaded daily.

John O'Neill said on Hannity & liberal, that the Swifties are bringing out another ad.

We need to keep those ads on the air.

The LAT piece reflects well the liberal frustration with CBS. And Kerry's record in Nam was indeed "impressive." It certainly "impressed" me. It is "impressed" on my mind. I will not soon forget it.

I guess we forgot that Bill Clinton went to Oxford U in England to avoid service? And that was ok with the Democrats, But Bush in the Guard wasn't enough?

Face it, all of our politicians are being bred from family and party lines. There is a whole lot of spoon feeding going on on both sides of the political spectrum. Can anyone name a current US Senator or Representitive's son who is serving in Iraq currently? Whats new?

As far as CBS News, Their obligation is to report the news, not fabricate it. If it wasn't for NFL on CBS, I would never watch the network anyhow. Rather's lack of credibility has been evident to me for years. Whats new?
Other than CBS has a vendetta against President Bush.
At least it is completely verifiable.

Brent Bozell did a good job of shouting down Alan Colmes tonight. he said "Why should anyone answer claims made in a fraudulent document?"

I would compare this to a Bank Manager holding a forged check in his hand that was stolen from George W. Bush, and asking him what he was doing in the Whore House the check was written to
