A revolution in news

By Tony Blankley THE WASHINGTON TIMES "The major advances in civilization are processes which all but wreck the societies in which they occur." That observation by the British philosopher Alfred North Whitehead came to mind this past week as I watched Dan Rather struggle violently like a proud old marlin caught on a hook by the young Internet fishermen. Twisting and turning, the great fish only drives the hook deeper in. Plunging and rising, it only exhausts itself while the exuberant Internet fishermen carefully manage the line and grab for the powerful hand hook with which they will end the great fish's sea-life.

How about Rather's DAUGHTER as the source of the documents? He could have gotten them from HER (she is a rat party up-and-comer in Texas), and taken them on faith, if she 'promised' him they were legit.

It is one possible explanation as to why they were not at least minimally checked out -- him either trusting her, or willing to fall on his sword to help her!!!

Great line: "The Internet bloggers picked CBS's story as clean as a school of piranhas would pick clean some poor water buffalo that wandered into their river." CBS owes the public an apology. I know they don't think they do but they do.

Yeah, I had cornered rats more in mind than marlins. Well, just so long as it dies in the end. I love happy endings.

Reads like a Hemmingway description of The Old Man, (Rather) and The Sea (internet). The other angle of Ahab (Rather) harpooned some lousy sheets of paper which destroy him after his life-long pursuit of the whale.

Quote of the week nomination.

Count me a supporter of the revolution. But revolutions are messy affairs, where much of value is lost as well as gained.

In doing away with the dinosaur of agenda driven media monopoly, the gains far outweigh the losses.

If Dan's the marlin, I guess that makes the rest of us Anthony Quinn. Cool. I always loved his work.

Mistakes were cheerfully admitted and instantly corrected.

That was honestly true. Even those who tried to deflect us were easily ignored.

It is really hard to believe how well we all worked together to slay the dragon. Would that it were always this easy.
