Today's 'prediction' on this site:
Bush: 291 EV
Kerry: 238 EV
New polls: FL MI NJ NC OH OK PA WI
Yesterday's 'prediction':
Bush: 233
Kerry: 269
New polls: ME

Wow, by my count Kerry is solid blue in only six states! With CA and NJ that close, I think Kerry is looking quite McGovernite!
I love the potential for his utter collapse over the next month and a half!
We'll give him MA, the rest are ours!

electionprojection.com reflects my own assessment, which has not changed since January. The salient question is: what states will Kerry take that Gore could not?
People have been touting FL and OH as vulnerable, but I ask: Is Kerry better, more attractive to the electorate than Gore? Is Bush more attractive now than he was in 2000? To the second question, I say yes. He is an incumbent. He is a successful war president. He has cut taxes. The economy is growing. It's his race to lose.
And speaking of losers, what message is Kerry giving? 1. I'm not Bush. 2. I served in Vietnam. That won't win it for Kerry. What other message can he give?

When are they going to get the colors correct. I noticed at
http://www.multied.com/elections/
that the electoral map is Blue for Republican and Red (as it should be) for DemocRATs, until Klinton's second term.
When "W" is re-elected, one of his first orders of business should be an executive order to correct this color coding ASAP.

(snip)News from the Votemaster
Good news for George Bush, Ralph Nader, you, and me but no good news for John Kerry today. The good news for Bush is that he is now ahead by 1% in Florida , 48% to 47% and 1% in Pennsylvania , neither of which is statistically significant, of course. But this tiny shift in two key states puts him ahead in the electoral college again.
More good news for Bush is the Strategic Vision (R) poll in Ohio. They have Bush ahead 52% to 40%. However, the Rasmussen 7-day tracking poll has Ohio as an exact tie at 47% each. To paraphrase Shakespeare: Something is rotten in the state of Ohio. Given the MoE of 3% these two results are not compatible. The Strategic Vision poll was taken Sept. 10-12 and the Rasmussen poll was taken Sept. 6-12, so the Strategic Vision poll is more recent, but such a large change in such a short time is unlikely. Nevertheless, since Strategic Vision is more recent, it goes into the map and the spreadsheet. (snip) (emphasis mine)
This looks as if he likes the President. Does it not?

The cartogram was interesting, not for its content, but for the shape of the states. It seems to be an attempt to make each state have an area proportional to their electoral votes. It looks all squidded out at first, but it is actually a neat gimmick. Especially since there is lots of red area on it.

Don't forget the other divers messages from the Kerry camp certain to transform the electorate: Bush was AWOL; Bush got special treatment; Bush lied about being in the Air Force; Bush didn't go to Vietnam.
A powerful platform to build a stronger America.

He has stated explicitly he is for Kerry. I think the good news for him is that he was justified in his theories about how close the race is.

The colors are wrong and I have felt like a voice in the wilderness until I saw your post.
But they are wrong not for why you say.
The INCUMBENT has traditionally been BLUE the CHALLENGER RED.
Bush should be BLUE this time. We are allowing the MSM to dictate to us that we are "Red" Americans while dims are "Blue".

Hmmm. But if they just picked permenant colors for the parties, then the Dems would say Red is appropriate for us due to all the blood we have shed. Fair enough.
But I think their color should be white.

The point is that traditionally color was based on incumbent vs challenger.
It is not so anymore and WE are as responsible as the MSM by our acquiescence.
To: NJ Neocon
We are allowing the MSM to dictate to us that we are "Red" Americans while dims are "Blue". That's because if we made the Dims Red it would be too close to the truth.
