'(CBS/AP) Amid challenges from other news organizations and partisans, CBS News continued to defend itself over criticism stemming from documents it obtained that questioned President Bush's service in the Air National Guard.
On "The CBS Evening News" Monday night, Dan Rather said his original report on "60 Minutes" used several different techniques to make sure the memos were genuine, including talking to handwriting and document analysts and other experts who strongly insist that the documents could have been created on a typewriter in the 1970s as opposed to a modern-day word-processing software program, as some have charged. What a gyp. I was hoping they'd have footage of a George W. Bush lookalike in an Air National Guard uniform kicking a small puppy while a child looks on in horror.
that's tomorrow night's distraction...:}
Wednesday, they will have "Mr. Bush" throwing tomahawks at small goats as they are staked out for mountain lions....
I hope the goats are wearing little signs on them that say "endangered species".
In 72 point Bazooka font, of course.
Sure Dan, could have been created on a 20,000 dollar type-setting type writer (adjusted for inflation) if someone wanted to stop and change balls etc., and the line breaks and tabs being identical to the default settings on MS Word is just a coincidence. Keep drinking that kool-aid Dan.
Seriously, Rather has no choice but to keep clinging to his pathetic story. If he acknowledges they appear to be forgeries, he would have a hard time justifiying the protection of his source. Once his source becomes known, the memo could be traced to the Kerry camp. If that happens, game, set and match over.
Funny that SeeBS sited USA Today in that clip. I also saw that USA Today had hired two former FBI forgery experts, who determined that the "memos" were forgeries. I think SeeBS is grasping at straws.
Rather just keeps digging that hole deeper and deeper. My guess is that we're not too far from exposing CBS News' complicity with the Kerry campaign on this fiasco. I guess the Clinton gang is making sure the SS Kerry is going down with no chance of rescue.

What is happening here is that the focus is now on Bush and his National Guard Service. The SBVFT offensive has been blunted and practically disappeared from view. Bush is now on the defensive. This needs to be turned around.
You do?
Then highlight the 'th' superscript, select FONT, and uncheck superscript.
How hard is that?
Dan Rather's transformation to complete buffoon is now complete.
It's the same with these photo copies. With out the ORIGINALS that can be subjected to forensic scientific testing by repubatible crime labs cBS and blather have diddley squat as evidence.
How about it, kabar?
Invoke the Swiftees and discredit the mainstream media - a classic two-fer!
LOL I like it. We need to go back on the offense.
any idea when they are coming out with their "devasting news" we heard about last month?
I thought it was something obtained from FOIA.....
Looks like some of the LSM has wisely decided to distance themselves from Rather/CBS. Seattle Post-Intelligencer just ran a Safire column critical of Rather and now USA Today jumps in with these FBI forensics guys. If this snowballs, the bloggers might actually get a fair hearing in much of the LSM. That would be a first right there.
Not at all. O'Neill/Patterson just appeared at the SF Commonwealth Club and it aired on CSPAN. My local paper, the SF Chronicle, ran an article on them just a couple days ago. And the SBVT anti-kerry ads continue to run in many markets in the battleground states as contributions continue to pour in to the SBVT.
