Report from Chappaqua: No downside for Hillary if she replaces Kerry on the ticket..
one man's opinion

Posted on 09/13/2004 12:27:52 PM PDT by ken5050

As many of you know, I have over the past four years occasionally chronicled the Clintons, from the perspective of what one hears and observes from Beautiful Downtown Chappaqua. Many Freepers have told me how much they enjoy my commentaries. I've ignored the rumors, the innuendos, the "tin-foil hat" theories. Indeed, there are many more very interesting details that I have deliberately chosen NOT to share with all of you. What I'm going to discuss now is admitted speculation on my part, but based upon a few conversations I've had in the last few days..and you'll have to trust my instincts on my sources..OK..here goes..

TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: badseed; clinton; conspiringclintons; hillary; hitlery; rodham; stophillary; traitor

Ken, clever piece though it's hard to see it. Hillary! wouldn't just lose, it would be a Bush landslide.

There's just NO WAY the electorate - that we do often refer to as the 'sheeple' - would consider electing an untested, People Magazine politician as Commander-in-Chief during the WOT.

And especially not if thrust upon the country a few weeks before election day. Let's see, how could it go?

"The Presidential Debate Committee anounces a change in tonight's Presiential Debators. Complications arising from Senator Kerry's old war wounds regretfully have forced him to withdraw from the 2004 Presidential race. Senator Kerry has been advised to take an extended vacation of biking, windsurfing and tossing the football with John Edwards. The Committee, on behalf of the public, wishes Senator Kerry a rejuvinating holiday.

In this time of need, the former First Lady, Senator Hillary! Rodham Clinton, has, for the good of the children, gamely agreed to come to the aid of the country and represent her party before the American people.

Even though a standing appointment at the spa and makeover salon could not be rescheduled and Senator Clinton will only have an hour and fifteen minutes to prepare for tonight's Debate we are confident Senator Clinton will acquit herself well before the American public.

Senator Clinton has assured the Committee she will select her Vice-Presidential significant other by the afternoon of the scheduled Vice-Presidential Debates, if she doesn't cancel it.

We are so proud of the First Lady for this selfless sacrifce. We suggest that the Debate moderator and tonight's media representatives be mindful of the position of highest respect that Senator Clinton has held, and continues to hold, in the country and the hearts of the American people.

Thank you, Senator Clinton."

Hmmm - having read this press release, it just might work.

Maria pinged me to this, so I'll have another whack at the snakes on Medusa's head. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN. IT'S TOO DAMNED LATE.

The election laws of the 50 states and D.C. are my playground. All of them contain deadlines, many of which have already passed for the election of 2004. In my judgment, based on those deadlines, the only way that Kerry could legally be replaced on ALL 51 ballots would be if he DIED.

Run up another conspiracy if you choose concerning the death of Kerry. But this dog won't hunt.

That's a fact. I even know some of the people that the Party calls on when there is an emergency, such as in 2000. These people are already chilling the champagne, BTW. They didn't make their money being gullible or deluded and they are not cock-eyed optimists. They are self-made multi-millionaires who did it thru starting their own businesses and working very, very hard at them, then selling to even richer folks who didn't want to do the hard work.

I bet that 60% of the country would vote against Hillary. Even the far right single issue conservatives who would otherwise not vote for Gulliani would hold their noses against Hillary.

Bill & Hill's *Plan* was that she would be POTUS and appoint him to the SCOTUS when Rehnquist died/retired. Bill screwed that one up. I also doubt she has any sympathy vote this time. Millions of Americans belong to the zipper club and it isn't the sort of thing one can see really being a depressing/scary event for Hillary. I bet she is chortling that Bill isn't able to perform sexually for a few months. I haven't even seen one *poor Hillary* article about it, not even one line. She's the brains and he's the Face. Even w/plastic surgery and speech lessons, she hasn't got the charisma and he cannot transplant it into her. No one wants him roaming the WH again, this time w/absolutely nothing to do. Anti-nepotism laws passed after Bobby Kennedy was AG under his brother, forbids her giving him a Cabinet position and he has ruined his chances to be a justice.

"6. With Hillary at the head of the ticket, Democratic coffers fill to overflowing. Republicans, having shot their wad defining Kerry, have to scrounge to get the funds to compete with Hillary."

With Hillary in the race, I would find a legal way to raise my bet by 10X.

Ah, I'll bet this has not been lost on the President and has been considered and contingencies laid. This president is himself a political calculator.

Hillary filed in Feb. She's ready if she needs to be.

We've discussed it a couple of times on other threads.

They don't have enough time no matter how much money they can or cannot get a hold of. Not going to happen.

Thanks for the heads up Ken, and know that this won't be flamed by most of us. We expect this kind of thing from democrats now. There are no rules anymore. God help us if Kerry wins, God help us if Hillary wins. This is a no win situation for the country.

You really think the American people would be up in arms about this? Most of them could care less, would fall for whatever story the media gave them, and run out to vote for this evil woman! Propaganda is on their side.

I don't think the plan is connected to changing ballots. I believe the plan is connected to changing the votes of presidential electors before December 18 using the gray area surrounding federal and state laws on the behavior of electors.

The key to all this is that when you vote for a presidential candidate's name on the ballot, you're actually voting for electors pledged to the ticket of that candidate's party. I think that makes a difference. Please scan the complete thread for posts by both myself and FReeper Cboldt. I think the two of us have hit on something.

" Never mind how they get Kerry to withdraw, any number of reasons/methodologies suggest themselves"

Have you ever had the feeling, that Kerry has known all along, he wasn't really running for President?

For some stupid reason, I have.

I still refuse to beleive that hrc is electable on a national level. She is at home in her liberal haven, but the fact remains that most intelligent white men can't stand to even look at the witch. Thats a huge demographic that doesn't need to see her open her mouth to say. Nope. Not gonna happen. I just dont think she plays well in Peoria, or anyplace else in flyover country USofA.

And let people ramp up for a day, and all the anti-hrc stuff will come down like a huge mountain of crap...all headed straight for her huge, pant-suited @$$.

And then, even though she would have a built-in excuse, she's got the stench of defeat, (to go along with the klinton stench) and people won't forget that

Two words: New Jersey. This is national.

One word: Electors. (From the Electoral College as opposed to the electorate) They can, have, and will continue to vote for anybody they want to and/or in this case who their party tells them to.

You are wrong about the nature of the Electors' pledges. Unless elected as "Uncommitted," they are pledged to the specific candidates who put them up for election under the various state laws. Laws vary by states, but a majority of states make it both a FELONY and an AUTOMATIC RESIGNATION if any Elector seeks to vote different from the way they are pledged.

And to make it clear, the replacement options have been used in most states. (They are usually used when an Elector fails to get to the Capitol on time.) The leader of the delegation, which is pledged to a single candidate, can send someone into the hall, grab the first person they see, swear them in, and have them vote.

The only way that pledged Electors are freed is if their candidate resigns from the race after the election, or dies. Only death has applied. Horace Greeley died after the election and his Electors voted all over the map. Fortunately he was the losing candidate.

Trust me, I know these things.
