VS-21 led the aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) arrival back home after a scheduled deployment in support of Summer Pulse '04.
The exercise demonstrated the Navy's ability to provide credible combat power across the globe in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces.
Summer Pulse was the Navy's first test of its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).

A British soldier assists Saga Al Gazzey at the Basra International Airport, Iraq, Sept. 5, 2004. Gazzey received a heart operation at the Royal Brompton Hospital in the United Kingdom, paid for by Chain of Hope.
Her father Niam Zeyan, a tribal leader in the Basra providence, has accompanied her since she left Iraq. Chain of Hope helps children suffering from life-threatening diseases by mobilizing a chain of volunteers to get them the vital treatment they need.
