I was here during Filegate, Memogate, Fostergate, Monicagate, and God knows what else. I was posting 'vanity' threads before they had a name.
In all that time I've never seen anyone nailed to the wall quite the way Dan Rather and his 'crew' has been during the last few days.
Please allow me to thank you on the most personal level possible and as publicly as I possibly can for bringing this particularly smelly piece of 'journalism' to light. You have no idea how much this one means to me.
I spent over an hour this afternoon explaining to my wife what has happened with this story over the last 36 hours today. She has never really understood what FR is, although she has tolerated me spending a lot of time here. After we finished our lunch of cheeseburgers and microbrews she looked at me and said "That's a really cool crowd you hang with. You must be really proud of yourself."
I told her that I didn't have anything to be proud of other than being a member of the same club that would allow the likes of me into the same cyberspace as folks like you who have done the real heavy lifting.
