Alabama woman says she lost job for sporting Kerry sticker on car

MOULTON Lynne Gobbell never imagined the cost of a John Kerry-John Edwards bumper sticker could run so high.
DAILY Photo by Clyde Stancil Lynne Gobbell said her boss fired her last week because of the Kerry-Edwards campaign sticker on the back of her car. Gobbell of Moulton didn't pay a cent for the sticker that she proudly displays on the rear windshield of her Chevrolet Lumina, but said it cost her job at a local factory after it angered her boss, Phil Gaddis.
Gaddis, a Decatur bankruptcy attorney, owns Enviromate, a cellulose insulation company in Moulton.
Gaddis did not return phone calls from THE DAILY about the alleged Thursday firing.
Gobbell said she consulted a lawyer, but then changed her mind about going to see him. She said she has cried about the incident and must do without income for three weeks while the state unemployment commission decides if she is eligible for compensation.

"She was fired for not removing the offensive material "the sticker" from the employer's property and was insolent about it."You just told me the employer never gave that reason. Also, it is her right under the first amendment, incoporated under the 14th, to place that sticker on her car w/o interference from anyone. Offensive? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This Post Civil War Amendment applies the Bill of Rights to the States. It does not apply the Bill of Rights to "everyone". Employers may fire employees for virtually ANY cause.

It is also the EMPLOYER's right to request the offensive sticker be removed from HIS PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Update on the sticker situation on my car here in LA. Sat morning, went to move my car. Nice big juicy dog t-rd, bang slap in the middle of the windshield on my side! Wrote the offender a nice note and stuck it in the windshield of the car, waiting for his/her return to see it. It reads, " Dear Bush hater. The next time you put dogsh-t on my car, have the guts, which I know you don't have, to leave your name and address so that I know where to come to make you eat it! It also reminded me of what you are!" Next to it sits the Demorats photo of Botox and Hair Boy holding hands. Underneath it says, "LOSERS". I think it just goes to show that desperation is setting in on their part. Poor babies!

Read 18USC in my above links. It applies to everyone with a multitude of obvious limits, such as D stickers on R rep cars and Pepsi stickers in the Coke lot.

I doubt her skills were too difficult to replace. I have seen employers put up with some real crappy behavior when the skills were really needed on a team. I guess she was somewhat expendable and the rude exchange as described in the article was the deciding factor.

If this woman was in fact fired because of a political sticker on HER vehicle, then I hope she sues the piss out of the asshole that fired her.
I may not agree with her political position, but I will defend to the death her right to express it.
