Who is not disputing the legitimacy of the memos? Either you remain silent, denounce the memos or you're CBS. There is nobody credible saying these things are real. MS Word XP just wasn't available in 1972 and these memos were not maybe, not most likely, but absolutely created with Word. Study the evidence at Powerline and LGF for a complete and very convincing case against the memos done by intelligent attorneys and netizens of the world.

"We believed Col. Hodges the first time we spoke to him. We believe the documents are genuine. We stand by our story and will continue to report on it," Sandy Genelius said.Hodges NEVER said the docs were "genuine!"
He never saw the docs and only commented on what CBS reported to him, he never agreed with CBS!
What a bunch of deceitful creeps. That's alright CBS is going to a place this coming week they could never imagine!

Looks to me like cBS has more holes in their integrity than Kerry's swift boat does.

"The colonel said that the documents were - quote - familiar to him, and that Killian did indeed feel the way that the documents expressed."Wait a minute? The story says:
"We wanted to take the documents to him and do an interview and he declined to do that," he said, calling Hodges statements at the time "impressive" support of the documents' authenticity.
But then goes on to say:
"Without seeing them, I assumed that they were hand-written notes from a personal file that Lt. Col. Killian (who died in 1984) may have maintained without anyone's knowledge," Hodges wrote in a statement he released on Saturday.
When were these docs familar to Hodges?

Well, you can see it with your owneyes, can't you?
Unlike Col Hodges, who was led to believe the memos were handwritten notes by CBS.
CBS and Rather's case for the authencity of their "documents" is falling apart faster than cheap shoes in a rainstorm.

"We believed Col. Hodges the first time we spoke to him."
What kind of answer is that ? So they believe him when the story fits their point of view, but now they don't believe him because their story falls apart? lol

[Col. Hodges] never saw the docs and only commented on what CBS reported to him, he never agreed with CBS!According to Dan Rather, they are 100% certain it was the real Col. Hodges they spoke to, despite the fact he had been photocopied several times. An undisclosed shoe size expert conclusively determined Col Hodges's identity.

but now they don't believe him because their story falls apart? It makes them look so foolish it's not even funny!
It appears the pressure needs to be applied extra sturdgently (cs) on CBS to come clean.
So be it!

A little too early for beer, but it sure is entertaining watching the DU Lapdogs gnawing their paws off!....Not to mention the quality of their highly educated and superior writing and thinking skills ....Reminds me of Miss Baileys writing classes in the 6th grade!

"Without seeing them, I assumed that they were hand-written notes from a personal file that Lt. Col. Killian (who died in 1984) may have maintained without anyone's knowledge," Hodges wrote in a statement he released on Saturday.Did CBS tell Hodges that the documents had been authenticated by a HANDWRITING expert, leading him to the misunderstanding that they had been handwritten. I think this is critical and I haven't seen it stated anywhere.
Today's extremely biased Baltimore Sun has for a front page headline "Source for CBS now suspects memos are fake." Is a person who comments on, but did not provide, documents a "source?"
