I'm an agnostic on free trade. I think there are good arguments for it and good arguments against it. But in the long run, the problem of American jobs moving overseas can't be solved by government. American workers -- of all income levels -- will need to get used to perpetual insecurity, because that's the fundamental economic fact of our times. Presidents can't do much about it.
