This is more than a good idea from a political 'statemen' point of view... This stock is going to tank big-time when dan ratherbiased is forced to resign over it
so protect your investment and get out now

I would support a boycott of CBS until they drop 60 Minutes. If their ratings for Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI (I,II, and II), Survivor, and the Amazing Race tank then they'll be hemmoraging.

We can be advised to not watch the Dan Rather TV show, but to not buy their stock in order to make a political statement carries instant desublimation too far.

Er, Viacom stock is up one-percent at this writing.
If you wish to sell it for a loss, fine. The stock is way off its highs of several years ago(around 75 bucks near the middle of 2000). Ah, those were the days!

I think he's long puts...but trying to move the stock via messages on Free Republic is not the way I'd do it...I'd use the integrity of the mainstream media to pass off this kind of market manipulation...[heh]

I've been boycotting CBS for years. It started before I even knew what sleazebags they are. They just don't show anything I want to watch.

We can be advised to not watch the Dan Rather TV show, but to not buy their stock in order to make a political statement carries instant desublimation too far. The Viacom shareholders are responsible for dealing with Dan Rather's lies. They could hold an emergency shareholder's meeting today and clean up their problem. If they are unwilling than they need to suffer the consequences.
The shareholders at GE and Disney are also ultimately responsible for the slander that their newsrooms put out.

To: bandleader
Yes, I agree. I used to enjoy his show a lot. Now it makes me very uncomfortable. Too bad. There's a lot of talent in that studio.

The Viacom shareholders are responsible for dealing with Dan Rather's lies. LOL Call an emergency meeting of 10 million people.

Viacom does not own CBS. We have never even heard of this "Dan Rather".

A far more effective method is to change your buying habits.
If you get cable from Time Warner(owns cnn), switch to DirectTV(Murdoch co., also owns Fox news).
Don't rent videos from Paramount Pictures(owned by viacom, also owns CBS).
Cancell all you left wing newspapers. Also, you local newspaper that subscribes to AP. Make sure you tell the locals why you are doing this.
Contact your local CBS affiliate and tell them you won't be watching your local channel anymore. This gets far better results than emailing CBS headquarters.

Better idea- challenge CBS' television and radio licenses!
To: RightWhale
LOL Call an emergency meeting of 10 million people. The owners are powerless and don't have the ability to fix the problem that they are ultimately responsible for? Too bad for the owners then.
Viacom, Disney and GE should be punished until bankrupt or until they fix their problems.
