While this is despicable, demonstrating clearly the bias of the MSM, I hope American voters are sophisticated enough to understand that GWB has already been vetted, elected to the office in 2000. In contrast, kerry is the challenger who has not been vetted nationally. This "material" is irrelevant in the election. GWB has been on the job for 4 years. It's airing by CBS demonstrates the lack of respect the network has for Americans - it insults our intelligence in a big way.

Ben Barnes is a liar. Here is the Google result page for LT governors of Texas. He served from 1969 - 1973, AFTER President Bush was already in the guard.

List of LT governors of Texas

Wonder if the NYTimes will publish a graphic showing all the insider connections to the Kerry campaign like they did for the Swifties? Nahhhhhhh

Remember please...this is a mike wallace segment. Only those rabid faithful to the kerry camp will watch. Of coures, the liberal print media will report it, and only those rabid faithful to the kerry camp will read it.

None of this crap will sway a swing or "undecided" or "independant" voter to go with kerry instead of President Bush.

But I'll just bet the liberal media will find one "independant, swing, undecided" voter who will proclaim loudly that this rigged interview did the trick for them. Now their eyes are opened and they will be voting against President Bush....er....FOR kerry.

If Nixon can be President in 1968, why can't Barnes be Texas Light Governor in 1968?

There is no arguing that JFKerry DID RECEIVE a draft notice for which he could not get a deferment although he TRIED!

There is also no doubt that Kerry was in the Naval RESERVE in very short order and training in OFFICER status even though he had never done ROTC in college....I can find no record of his attendance at ROTC. (Can anyone else?)

HOW did Kerry get into NAVAL RESERVE OCS in such short order -- an opportunity that simply was NOT POSSIBLE for average citizens....even (especially) college graduates who had received draft notices?

ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW who greased the skids so Kerry could go immediately into OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL!

Riddle me this Batman...a question the rats can't answer....if Bush 41 managed to get Dubya into the Guard, then why did Dubya volunteer to be a fighter pilot, not exactly a safe cushy job to sit out of VN...

That's a little harsh considering the report says he had Tuberculosis. Sounds like you're visiting the sins of the son on the father!

Kattracks, anyone who would lend any credence to that partisan, crooked Ben Barnes ought to have their head examined! I bet Dan Blather thought he had died and gone to heaven when interviewing that clod........birds of a feather you know.

Dan Rather and Molly Ivins-fraternal twins. Still seeing Texas as the Yellow Dog state of the past. Still winking and blinking at things that Ben Barnes was chin deep into such as the Sharpstown Scandal-did my hs research paper on it and several ill suspecting state legislators were taken down along with Barnes. Don't know but I bet Barnes is one of the few coming out with big bucks from the deal. Barnes needs to be totally discredited.

Just a little harsh, eh. Not like touting the 'Arnold's dad was Nazi' story? Incidentally, do you know when Richard Kerry was diagnosed w/ tuberculosis? I don't.

I know the Democrats wanted to hold this story until October 30th. Desperation drives a political party to do odd things.
