Frankly, Paul, I just don't believe anyone gives a damn about what you think.

You pretty much said what I was thinking. What did it serve that Weyrich indulged himself in his whine before, only to see in retrospect he was wrong?

Bah

I think it's fine he has admitted his error, but I'm not impressed.

Show me a republican that was turned off by Zell's speach and I will show you a guy that thought about voting for kerry before he voted for Bush.

Paul has been wrong too many times for me to pay much attention to him anymore.

"Weyrich put out a screed recommending that Christians retreat from politics and political discussion."

That was when I broke with him forever, when he started counseling defeat.

Former Iowa Rep. Fred Grandy pointed out that accusing people of mental instability is what the Communists did when someone defected from the party. "Obviously he had to be mentally ill or he wouldn't have done that"

Just like Karl Marx's "wrong consciousness" theory that's been referenced in the GREAT thread comparing John "My Silky Pony" Edwards with the old Communist Party.

And then to mention that it was no less than Richard Nixon who caused the governor to identify with and join the Republican Party! Good Lord. The media hates Nixon almost as much as they hate Bush. Moreover, I haven't heard Nixon's name mentioned at a GOP Convention since 1972, when he was nominated for a second term.

That was one of my favorite moments at the convention. I'm tired of Nixon being treated as the anti-Christ. He may not be among my favorite Presidents but certainly everything he did while in office wasn't wrong. I wouldn't suggest we go the way of excuses as Dems w/Clinton but to go the other extreme and black out his life doesn't play well to me. It was glad to hear Arnold mention his name, and that the RNC approved it.

I suppose it should be noted at least the author of the article stated they had been wrong. Would have been nice if he had understood what some of us did in advance. Arnold, Rudy and McCain may not be "pure" conservatives but they do have conservative positions in certain areas. There are many people out there that do not vote for one party because they do not fully represent their positions. These guys demonstrated you can disagree but still find areas of unity. You do not have to sacrifice your principles to vote "Republican".

The "big Tent" is just another word for tolerance. Though not tolerance in the way the Left defines it by silencing discord. Rather tolerance to have heated fights but in the end rally around what you do agree on in the best interests of this nation.

Sorry, I missed your joke on first read.

I get it now.

Still, I think every cult is harmful in some way.

Still, I think every cult is harmful in some way.

Well, Steeler fans for example. Harmless lately except to people in Cleveland. Bowlers. And if you don't think bowlers are a cult, I'd like you to meet my mother-in-law...

But seriously, I would challenge you to find any cult more dangerous than Karl Marx's. In the twentieth century they were responsible for more murder, torture, and oppression than all other causes combined. And considering how bloody that century was, that's really quite an accomplishment. By comparison, I'd say nearly all other cults were harmless, indeed. Made all the more harmful because their only serious competition--the fascists, a distant second--are universally reviled. We have this problem with this Leftist cult you see, it still has its adherents.
