America's greatness cannot be linked to just one thing. Yes, out military power has made us into a world power but it is not the only factor. There is a difference between deriving greatness from power and greatness from respect. The United States used to be respected by the world for our tollerance of all nationalities and cultures. We are a diverse nation and we should be proud of that because it does bring power in the form of friendships with other nations. Military greatness is no good if the whole world were to gang up on the US, granted that will likely never happen; but if we continue to push out allies away, we will be left alone in the world with nothing but our military to show. This is not the world that I want my future children to grow up in. I want them to be in an even more tollerant world than we have now. How is this not wanting what is best for my family?
