On CNN with Judy Woodruff, Mary Beth Cahill, of the Kerry Campaign says there are 3 polls out to day..one shows we're ahead, one shows we're even, and then this poll, and I don't think they matter, blah blah blah.

Mary Beth Cahill is stuttering today, first time I've seen this. She's running on empty, no spit left. It's in her eyes...they're very sad. Judy asks how Cahill how she can turn this thing around, Cahill responds, "As I've said, there are two other polls that disagree viiolently with this one." (strained overstatement). But when Judy asks Cahill if she was staying with the campaign, after the shake-up, Cahill said, "yes, happily, I'm staying where I am". Only trouble...she didn't look happy at all.

I'm out of the loop on the "Presidente Ezequiel" reference? Can someone tell me what that means?

I'm telling you that if Kerry starts the personal attacks, especially the alcholism, abortion stories mention in other threads the independents or swing voters are going to be really turned off and the president's lead will head even higher.

You nailed it! Let me point out that when the LA Times came out with the "groping" story against Arnold in the Calif. recall last year, it backfired on the Times BIG TIME, and probably sealed the election for Arnold. This is post-9/11. The Democrats forget that. There is an increased seriousness among voters that they haven't discerned. Most voters (a sizeable majority) no longer tolerate negative hit pieces against candidates during the campaign. They know that there are serious issues in a dangerous world, and to level personal attacks against a candidate like Susan Estrich (spit!) hinted will be leveled against Bush and Cheney, people will not tolerate it. If the Dems set off such stinkbombs in this campaign, they are flirting with the possibility of a 50-state blow-out/backlash against them!

How many Kerry supporters will now see him as a loser and vote for the real antiwar candidate, Nader? How many will just stay home?

And how many will just go flat out BONKERS and scream, "VIVA EL PRESIDENTE EZEQUIEL!!!"?

He then said, "How bout them BUCKEYES?"

BTW, this was the one that made me finally believe the country hadn't gone completely off the deep end:

Providing strong leadership: 56% said they trust Bush to provide strong leadership in difficult times, while 37% said they trust Kerry to provide leadership in difficult times.

Lockhart's right. The election will be decided by a bunch of left-wing kooks, and the voters' rejection of them and their tactics.

It is nice to see that $63 million in anti-Bush hate filled 527 ads just went up in smoke. Soros pony up another $15 million and the Swifties will still beat your brains in with a 1/2 million dollar buy. I love it.

Hey, when you are backing a "pig" you have to spend a lot of money on make-up (or is that make-believe).

They are licking their wounds and taking solace from Michael Moore (aka mental midget).

--------------------

Michael Moore gives us a pep talk!! (MUST READ)

Why Democrats shouldn't be scared By Michael Moore NEW YORK — If I've heard it once, I've heard it a hundred times from discouraged Democrats and liberals as the Republican convention here wrapped up this week. Their shoulders hunched, their eyes at a droop, they lower their voice to a whisper hoping that if they don't say it too loud it may not come true: "I...I...I think Bush is going to win." Clearly, they're watching too much TV. Too much of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Zell Miller, Dick Cheney and Rudy Giuliani. Too much of swift boat veterans and Fox News commentators. Exactly what moment was it during the convention that convinced them that the Republicans had now "connected" with the majority of Americans and that it was all over? Arnold praising Richard Nixon? Ooooh, that's a real crowd-pleaser. Elizabeth Dole decrying the removal of the Ten Commandments from a courthouse wall in Alabama? Yes, that's a big topic of conversation in the unemployment line in Akron, Ohio. Georgia Sen. Miller, a Democratic turncoat, looking like Freddy Krueger at an all-girls camp? His speech — and the look on what you could see of his strangely lit face — was enough for parents to send small children to their bedrooms.

Kerry supporters and Bush-bashers should not despair. These Republicans have not made a permanent dent in Kerry's armor. The only person who can do that is John Kerry. And by coming out swinging as he did just minutes after Bush finished his speech Thursday night, Kerry proved he knows that the only way to win this fight is to fight — and fight hard.

a shattered Democratic Party will look for a new leader,

The problem isn't their leader. The problem is there aren't enough perverts to keep the party afloat. If they would get back on their message of liberalism with moral conviction (a very old message) then they would do well. W's doing well with it, he just calls it "compassionate conservatism".

Shalom.

I agree 100%. A double-digit lead BEFORE the Bush speech is pretty sensational, but it means nothing when there are 60 days left till actual votes are cast. In fact, too much hype about big leads for Bush could lead to complacency and reduce the GOP turnout.

I, like you, don't want to see the Democrats beaten in November. I wanted to see them crushed remorselessly. Every GOP volunteer should be working like a dog for the next two months to get every last vote in the Bush column that they can possibly find, though it is easy for me to make that demand from 5,000 miles away.
