The media have made such a bugaboo about "negative" statements or "attacks" that you might think political campaigns are supposed to be nothing but happy talk. But which is worse, that some unpleasant facts come out during a campaign or that someone is allowed to lie his way into the White House, with all our lives in his hands, on the basis of image and spin?
reminds me of a comment my husband made.
Clinton made it to the WH because the liberal press refused to investigate and truly inform America of his record as Governor and the horrific accusations that swirled around him.
Clinton lied and spun his way into the WH, and the press helped him do it every step of the way by dismissing all the indicators that would have allowed Americans to judge his character.
By his second run, with clinton's character no longer an item the press could sweep under the rug, the press actually tried to convince the press that CHARACTER DOES NOT MATTER! Disgusting.
Now we have Kerry, and a repeat of this same protective shield the press, the major TV networks and the NYT in particular, places around democrat candidates.
Loved President Bush's comment last night about the NYT's calling our troops OCCUPIERS in GE in 1946, and a FAILING OCCUPATION, at that!!! He wondered if the same editorialist was still working at the NYT now. So right on!
Could the networks of ABC, CBS and NBC along with CNN and print media like the NYT be trying any harder to break our nation's resolve to set Iraq on a the path to freedom? (Not to mention their determination to crush the moral of our troops!)
Could it be that Americans, everywhere, are starting to rebel against the misspeak, distortion, innuendo the network TV and the NYT, etc use to fog over Republican candidates? I believe this is happening.
This campaign is actually against Kerry, Edwards, the DNC and the enabling media. They all have to be considered as the opposition, as they are all part of the same power block.
Apparently it worked sufficiently well for BC to get re-elected. That's the disgusting part.
