From the telling of this in an earlier account, I think it was when he was running unsuccessfully for Congress soon after their marriage.

I put the tagline up the day of the victory over #1 and unbeaten St. Joes in the Atlantic 10 tourney. I thought of changing it to "I hate Cincinnati - Hellmouth on the Ohio", but........nah ;-)

According to the First Lady's office, she not only did not express anything regarding not appearing on the stage with him, but it was in the complete discretion of the museum as to who was allowed up there. It is just P. Diddy, the Democrats and the media pushing this nonsense. From what I hear though, the radio talk shows in town are really rooting her on though. Not hard to imagine though from WLW.

Terraaaazzzzaaaa, and John have not been seen together for weeks.

Mrs. Kerry is certifiably unstable and the Republicans want her in the public eye as much as possible.

You never know when Terazza will explode on a peasant, start screaming at Kerry, have a nervous breakdown or all three.

You will see much more of Mrs. Bush now, to flush Terraazzaa out of her padded cell.

"Well, she doesn't have a great track-record as a driver either."

Wow! Someone who apparently never did anything wrong in his/her youth!

I doubt any of us can begin to imagine what she felt or how devastated she was after the fatal accident she was involved in as a teenager. BTW, I knew a young man, who accidentally hit someone in a similar incident...he committed suicide a few weeks later because a couple of people teased him about being such a "sorry" driver.

Laura would stand lady like at the podium smiling demurely while Tahrazaa goes on a five minute rant tossing her head and floppy hair around while she explodes into a "Shove it" in 5 languages complete with a california wave...

I think Mrs. Bush got the short end of the deal. GW certainly made out like a bandit. The woman, in a word, is a lady. You can't say that about most women in public or even private life much anymore. There is, IMHO, a vast difference in being a good person, nice person, a woman, and being, a lady. To me, it implies, elegance and grace.

Yes, but at least it proves that Mr Bush can hit the broad side of the garage. Bless her heart.

And .. it's a very visible contrast to the "shove it" person.

Yes, President Bush is fortunate to have her. There are not many women who would have put up with what she did in their early marriage years, but because of her patience she is reaping the rewards of a great husband.

And thats too bad because all she had was a loyal husband, lots of money, a supportive family, beautiful children, a great home with lots of land, her father-in-law was President of the United States, she got to travel and meet interesting people due to her husbands family circle, fame in her state, and oh yea her husband liked to drink beer with his buddys.

excuse me, but if you have read the last four or five PRO Bush books you will see that he came home drunk. Laura was not happy with their daughters seeing their dad like this and was concerned of the repercussions. Laura's closest friends have told about how she would call them exasperated at her husbands behavior. Not to mention when they were at a party and GW was drunk and he asked an older lady how sex was after 50. BTW they did not have children for 3 years, when they were married her father-in-law was not the president or vice-president yet, and GW had not changed his life around till around 40 years old. After that things got a LOT better.

Oh the horror! Dad was drunk! The things she had to put up with. Give me a break. They were rich, he never hit her or even got really mad.At the very least his dad was vice- president. She didn't have to put up with much. If all a woman has to worry about in life is that her husband likes to drink with his friends, she's doing pretty good.

George probably had to put up with nagging all the time, thats why he ran to his buddys house. She is without a doubt the "lucky one".

I like both of them but I get sick of this crap where she was so mistreated until George got his mind right.

hmm, your comments just don't sound like you like either one. His dad was not vice president when they got married, he was the CIA director. It does not sound like you know a whole lot of what you are talking about. I suggest reading a few books and get educated about the whole thing before you talk about it.
You act like I said she was beat or something. I never said any such thing. All Laura was worried about was the effect it would have on the girls. Your "Probablys" need fact checking. Like I said, go read some books and get educated.

I love both the Prez and his wife. I never said GB was vice president when they got married but GWB was in his 30's while his dad was VP.From what I understand he was drinking in his 30's.

I voted for W for governor and President and I will be voting for him again in November. Like I said before, this is about how Bush wasn't some drunken wife beater who came home pissing himself at night and poor old Laura had to put up with it. He drank and Laura didn't like it but all I'm saying is thats not much to put up with when you have a husband who takes care of you.

When I was young my dad drank every so often, and when he would come home it was fun because he wasn't concerned with work or paying bills and was more light hearted. I remember my mother getting angry about it is what would cause grief. Thats my point, I get sick of hearing Laura had to put up with so much. Most women would kill to be in her shoes.

Yea, he drank in his 20s and 30s up to 40. No he was not a wife beater or anything like that. GW has said in his own words that his drinking got in the way of his relationships and he had to stop. He has even said that they stopped being as intimate for awhile. I hesitate to say that the family members and friends who have told this story countless times are getting it wrong, especially since they all say the same thing. I am very glad that your dad was a responsible drinker. It's just that sometimes drinking DOES get in the way of family.

Drinking certainly can and many housholds the drinker gets violent or loses their job or both, no argument there.

I guess the reason it bothers me is I have a friend who maybe drinks once a month. He is an awesome dad and provider. Everytime he drinks his wife makes a huge stink and threatens divorce and it becomes a huge ordeal. It is obvious it is her that causes the problem and not him, so I get a little defensive on the subject.

Good chat though and Go GWB.
