Kerry says responsibility for prisoner abuse extends to the White House

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Wednesday that civilian leaders in the White House and the Pentagon should be held accountable for abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison.

This from a guy who admitted engaging in atrocities and was never held accountable.

Kerry said voters should judge him by his lifetime of public service. He said although he came from a "comfortable" background, his parents taught him the value of work and he unloaded trucks while in college and sold encyclopedias door to door. He also touted his choice to go to Vietnam "when others chose not to" and his anti-war activism after returning.

So much for Kerry wanting to move on from discussing Vietnam.

Dem candidates at this point in a campaign are usually trying to appeal as moderates and yet Kerry is still stuck in his phoney Dean mode (or is it a phoney Al Gore macho attack mode). Middle America isn't buying it and will not elect this version of desperate Kerry. He's done unless Bush makes more mistakes and/or Kerry jumps back to the middle and acts grown-up.

Kerry repeated his call for Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to resign and for President Bush to appoint an independent commission.

The actual criminal misconduct of Mr. Clinton is no big deal and Kerry defended his continuing to hold office. Kerry is again calling for the resignation of Secretary Rumsfeld for the actions of a handful of soldier way down in the command structure.

A Democrat is not responsible even for their own personal misconduct but a Republican should resign from office simply because some low level subordinate misbehaves
