WHITE HOUSE SLAMS KERRY 'STUNT'
UPI ^ | 8/25/04 | wire staff

Posted on 08/25/2004 3:40:26 PM PDT by gopwinsin04

The White House today slammed Senator John Kerry for staging a 'political stunt' at the presidents ranch and for a double standard on attack ads.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Kerry's dispatch of former US Senator Max Cleland and Vietnam Vet Jim Rassman to Crawford was an attempt to divert attention from Kerry's 'out of the mainstream political record and out of the mainstream views.'

'Senator Kerry says he wants to talk about the issues. Today's political stunt is an interesting way of showing it, McClellan said.

'If Senator Kerry was interested in focusing on the issues, he would join the president in calling for a stop to all of these ads.'

Kerry accuses the Bush campaign of being behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth whose questioning of the veracity of Kerry's war accounts has riled the Kerry camp.

Bush has called for a ban on all ads by the so called 527 advocacy groups. Kerry has not heeded Bush's call to stand with him on the issue.

Bush has been savaged for a year by 527's favoring Kerry.

I'm trying to avoid having some prankster here post her ugly mug on the thread.

That woman's soul shows right through her face.

I SO wish we had Ari Fleischer still as Press Secretary.

The new guy just hasn't got the same zing and doesn't intimidate the jackels like Ari used to.....

How about Dennis Miller for pree secretary? Can't you see him handling Helen Thomas? She wouldn't know what hit her! BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh, I like that way of referring to her (it?).

Somewhat rhymes with "Elven Dumbass?"

How did these statements get in a MSM report? UPI is not following the DNC talking points.

Ramsey Clark to Join Panel for Saddam’s Defense

arabnews press release 25 August 2004

NOTE :
Ramsey Clark is pictured below with Kerry and
Vietnam phony vet Al Hubbard
Who was head of the
Vietnam Veterans Against the War movement.

NEW:

Kerry's "The New Soldier"
You can read it without downloading pdf files!

From Kerry's "The New Soldier":
Al Hubbard Sgt., 22 Troop Carrier Squadron Aug. ’65-June ’66

Emotions: Walking down the flight line at Saigon past stacks of aluminum cases containing American bodies and past stacks of aluminum luggage containing American currency. Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you can’t live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you won’t have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you won’t have to deal with having been there.

- Al Hubbard, proven fraud who never set foot in Viet Nam. The only Vietnamese he ever met was when he was collaborating with the North Vietnamese in Paris
on the American Communist Party's nickel.
John Kerry's explanation: "He (Hubbard) simply exaggarated his particular position.
But nobody knew it at the time. And those things happen."

I agree about 2008. A woman isn't acceptable as commander-in-chief when we are at war.

...ask the dirtbag if he feels lucky then tell him to get off my property or I will have him arrested for trespassing...

In Texas, you are allowed to shoot trespassers! It would certainly make the news cycle!

UPI is not a liberal travesty, like AP and Reuters.

If that were true, UPI would not have added the last sentence to this paragraph that appears later in the story:

Kerry accuses the Bush campaign of being behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, whose questioning of the veracity of Kerry's war accounts has roiled the Kerry camp. Bush denies it, but a lawyer with his campaign resigned Wednesday when it was disclosed he also did some legal work for the group

Did anyone see this live this afternoon?
I got to see it.
See this..."If I take some crippled veterans down to the White House and we chain ourselves to the gates, will we get coverage?" "Oh, yes, we will cover that."
He's crippled and he didn't quite manage to chain himself to the gate, but he sure showed up at it.

This is ridiculous. I can't believe that so many people will drive around with Kerry bumper stickers on their cars. Supporting Kerry is really taking the "anybody but Bush" thing way way too far.

I believe I can safely assume that you are not looking for a position in a Kerry Administration.

"I agree ....who can get ahold of Karen Hughes to tell her this?...she must know and I am amazed the White House has not replaced him!! He is terrible!"

I always felt Bush blew it by not nominating Karen Hughes to this position. Ari was feisty with Helen Thomas, but tended to be a little too soft with everyone else. Karen would have had that perfect balance of professionalism and toughness that this very difficult job asks for. Of course it's a moot point now, but I would have chosen her in a heartbeat.
