WHITE HOUSE SLAMS KERRY 'STUNT'
UPI ^ | 8/25/04 | wire staff

The White House today slammed Senator John Kerry for staging a 'political stunt' at the presidents ranch and for a double standard on attack ads.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Kerry's dispatch of former US Senator Max Cleland and Vietnam Vet Jim Rassman to Crawford was an attempt to divert attention from Kerry's 'out of the mainstream political record and out of the mainstream views.'

'Senator Kerry says he wants to talk about the issues. Today's political stunt is an interesting way of showing it, McClellan said.

'If Senator Kerry was interested in focusing on the issues, he would join the president in calling for a stop to all of these ads.'

Kerry accuses the Bush campaign of being behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth whose questioning of the veracity of Kerry's war accounts has riled the Kerry camp.

Bush has called for a ban on all ads by the so called 527 advocacy groups. Kerry has not heeded Bush's call to stand with him on the issue.

Bush has been savaged for a year by 527's favoring Kerry.

I missed it.

I SO wish we had Ari Fleischer still as Press Secretary.

The new guy just hasn't got the same zing and doesn't intimidate the jackels like Ari used to.....

McClellan sucks. Bush should have doubled Ari's salary to stay through the 2004 election.

I did not see the show but if they stop all political ads 60 days before the election doesn't GWB realize that the conservative view point will be squashed by the MSM and all that American's will have to go on is their viewpoint!

Swifties are an exempt 527; they can run their ads all through election day since they are independent, not affiliated with a business or union.

Thankfully they cannot do it this year. I am sure though that when GWB wins in November the push will be on for 2008 by the Hildebeast!

Two years ago, I would stop what I was doing and open a beer and laugh my butt off when Ari came on.

I especially loved how he handled She Who Must Not Be Named.

He'd get her almost frothing at the mouth.

Besides, Ari's kind of cute!

(grin)

Immediately it came to my mind when I heard this, Kerry is using this poor man for his own devices. How dispicable. How totally dispicable. It isn't bad enough he has milked his bacitricin covered wounds for PH's, but to put this man with only one arm and no legs up to this stunt, goes way beyond the pale. How pathetic.

Cleland has really disappointed me. It seems he hasn't come to grips that he was defeated by Saxby Chambliss because the people of Georgia deemed him too liberal. I know, because I was one who voted him out.

I don't know if Bush has any control over how much Ari ( or McClellan)
gets paid.

I think Ari got fed up playing school-master to the pack of spoiled children referred to as "The Media", and he wanted time alone with his new bride.

I agree. McClellan is less than scintilating. I was trying to be charitable.

She is too smart to take an attempt at a lame duck ticket. 2008 is her only chance.

I hope my tinfoil hat is positioned correctly. LOL
