"He actually cares about ideas!"

Very well put. That's why I like him. He's a real patriot and whether I agree or disagree with any particular issue with him I highly admire that his view is well thought out and logical. I think I could trust him.

We need 527s to get after obysama just like we did vs Kerry.

No we don't....

Unlike Bush, Keyes is not afraid to go after his opponent himself.

Try this exercise.

Scroll back up, and read just the headline.

You now have done as much as most voters will, and you are left with the impression Keyes wants us to be able to buy an Uzi at Wal Mart.

The fact that the substance of his comments is great is more than negated by the fact he has fired off a sound bite that makes him seem to the right of the Montana Militia.

This is why he is a great man, but a lousy candidate.

2004: "Certainly he believes in the Second Amendment, but he also believes in common-sense gun safety laws, such as the federal ban on military-style assault weapons."

2010: "Certainly he believes in the First Amendment, but he also believes in common-sense speech safety laws, such as the federal ban on insensitive and derogatory speech."

It is utterly amazing that someone could say that they believe in the 2nd Amendment in the same sentence as they advance the cause of a gun ban. What a maroon - and unfortunately, his boss is headed to DC since a majority of those in Illinois who will vote are utter idiots.

I surely hope your attitude isn't representative of the bulk of the Alan Keyes' Fan Club.

Hey...

Aren't you one of those people complaining about people attacking Keyes, the CHOSEN republican candidate, on this site?

You obviously don't have a problem attacking then incumbent President.

I think one or two of them are Bush supporters. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you what percentage of them share the attitude of the Keyes fan above.

I have a feeling we're about to find out, though.

oh please... knock off the Bush attacks.
it feeds the flamewars.

Alan said something I agree with.
More power to him.
but the additional "bush" digs... we don't need them.

I blame Carter for letting all these Keyes supporters out of the institutions in the 70s!

Keyes said he owns two firearms himself: a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol and a .38-caliber "six-shooter." But he said he does not keep them at his new home in Calumet City.

Keyes should have said, "If you break into my house while I am there, you will find out, won't you?"

"Keyes said he supports a system in which guns would be treated similarly to automobiles, with people being required to undergo different levels of training before they would be allowed to own and carry various sorts of weapons."

Allowed to own?

Allowed by whom?

How is that in line with the Second Amendment?

Yep. He should have used the example of Switzerland where EVERY adult male has a machine gun in his closet yet Geneva is one of the safest cities in the world.

I like keyes... that is why I also like Arizona I love a state where no one says a thing when you wear your sidearm on your hip... there is something refreshing about that.

You're not talking about giving citizens access to atom bombs and other things," the former presidential candidate said. "That's ridiculous."

Extremist, Illinois-based freeper, believes in individuals right to bear nuclear weapons:

That's it! He's just lost himself a vote.

On a serious note, his conception of Israeli gun laws is kind of skewed.

Granted, the restrictions imposed upon those living in places like Gush Katif have probably been eased since Arafat unleashed his wave of Terror on Israel, but I don't think that has led to average citizens walking around with uzis and submachine guns.
