I bet Swift ads keep running, because they are not from W campaign.
NOW WHAT WILL Kerry do?

Right Bush. Cave again. Like they are going to stop running these things. Moore will shutup. Whoopi and Billy Chrystal will apologize. The rock stars will not hold their sing-alongs. Sure. I will hold my breath waiting for them to stop. It is about regaining power. To them that is all it is about. You have blinked. They know it. Another cave.

In other news:
FReepers all over the U.S. cried foul, because Bush did not get their permission for today's Strategery moment.

Bush said Kerry "served admirably" in Vietnam, adding: "He ought to be proud of his record." But Bush stopped short of directly condemning the charge that Kerry lied about his actions. I hate it when he says that. Bush has no clue how Kerry served and is placing his opinion above those who served with Kerry. I served with some total losers myself and I know what they can be like.

The President will score no points with Democrats by taking a half-hearted stand on the Swift Boat Vets' ads. His official position on this should be "I'm going to let those who were in Vietnam debate the facts of what happened there. I wasn't there, as John Kerry and his supporters so delightedly point out at every opportunity."

Does Bush also think the book should be banned? How about Michael Moore's movies? Should they be banned? Is this still America?

They'll keep running. The Swifties are not part of the Bush Campaign. This strategery is part of the President's taking the high road. He'll let Kerry mewl and incidentally he's showing he's the classier guy.

Bush calls for a level playing field - he only calls for all ads to stop and he keeps asking johnfkerry to join him. Months of kerry's side using a string of 527s airing crap against Bush, now ONE 527 is attacking kerry........and kerry has begun his whining............frankly my response was to send the Swift Boat Vets a donation to keep the ads going. ;-)

The headline, as usual doesn't quote Bush correctly.
I would never have made a good politician or diplomat. I could never say what Bush did and I pray he only said it because he "had" to. He knows he doesn't control the Swiftees.

Bush did not specify what actions might be taken to stop the advertisements run by independent groups Well, I guess the first thing to do is suspend the first amendment.

Bush did not specify what actions might be taken to stop the advertisements run by independent groups, except to renew his call on Kerry to join him in condemning all unregulated soft money ads. LOL! like that's going to happen, and he knows it. George W. is one cool dude.

Bush's remarks translated:
Ok Kerry, you and your cronies slimed me time & time again and I took it like a sport and my poll numbers took a beating. Now that some of my followers are taking a pot shot at you and YOUR polls are taking a hit you suddenly starting to whine like a p#$$y. Just shutup and take it like a man you pretend to be.
Meanwhile I'll give a swifties a pass and you better keep your dogs in line 'cause after my convention you aint gonna know what's hit you.

This is the exact same as the White House position has been from the start -- ban all 527 ads. I don't understand why this story is even news, let alone why some Freepers are getting upset about it. Don't let the MSM trick you into thinking Bush changed his position.

Like father like son
His father reneged on his promise of no new taxes and it bit him in the ass
The son reneges on his promise to uphold FREE SPEECH and signs the damn thing because of a believed political expediency and now it comes back to bite ALL OF US IN THE ASS
Sometimes I wonder why the hell bother voting for the GOP

Well, IF(big if) one is for campaign finance reform(Bush did pass it). Then it seems that one must agree that the 527's are bad for political campaigns. After all, money corrupts,right?:-)
To: KQQL
What crap.
A.N.S.W.E.R., MOVEON.ORG, ACT, F911, etc., etc., etc., are not going to stop running their ads and playing their concerts and showing their movies. Go into any major bookseller in the country and look at the new release shelves -- every 3rd book is a Bush-bashing screed. Turn on any of the major networks and get dizzy from the spin. The 'mainstream' media, Hollywood, and every left-wing organization in the world are doing everything they can to distort, lie, and propagandize this election in favor of Kerry.
One group goes against the tide. The Swift Boat veterans have every right to run their ad. They were there. They have their story. They have the courage and conviction to tell it.
Bush needs to shut up about it, or if he says anything at all, it should be that they are an independent group that is entitled to speak their minds.
