Kerry campaign call for book to be withdrawn

US Senator John Kerrys campaign team today called for a book which contains proven falsehoods about the presidential candidates Vietnam war record to be taken off the shelves.
Unfit for Command, written by a former US sailor who served in Vietnam, alleges that Mr Kerry lied to win his war medals.
It also claims that the former Swift Boat captain, who hopes to oust George Bush from the White House in November, won a silver star for bravery by actually shooting a lone, fleeing teenage Viet Cong soldier in the back.
Mr Kerry yesterday made his first direct attack on a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which made the damaging claims.
He said President Bush wants them to do his dirty work.
Today, Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton suggested on the online news site Salon.com that the publisher, Regnery, should withdraw the book from sale.
No publisher should want to be selling books with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran, he said.
If I were them, Id be ducking under my desk wondering what to do. This is a serious problem.
On its website, Regnery publicises books such as The Official Handbook of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, which offers all the ammunition you need to help you win every argument against loony liberals and Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity.
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has also launched a series of adverts criticising Senator Kerry, from Massachusetts. The ads are being funded by a wealthy Texan Republican donor.
Senator Kerry has used his former Swift Boat crewmates heavily during his campaign.
Many appeared with him on stage at the Democratic National Convention in Boston last month.
The White House hopeful has made political capital out of his service, telling convention delegates: I defended this country as a young man and I will defend it as president.
He returned from Vietnam after being wounded three times and became a prominent campaigner against the war.
Some veterans never forgave him for the anti-war stance he adopted and for his claims that some US troops committed atrocities in Vietnam.

If there are any Kerry quotes in the book then I agree that there are "proven falsehoods" contained therein.
Contrast the response that President Bush has given Fahrenheit 9/11, the antiBush book that came out during the 2000 election, and other assorted attacks. John Kerry will crack under the pressure (and crack down on dissenters) if he is elected President.

"Declare victory and withdraw suppress" is the only strategy they've got, and it won't work, especially when the new Swiftee ad puts the focus on the stuff he did when he came back.

Be sure to place a copy of this book in any bookstore's display of "banned books" in September (banned book month).

This is why you will lose in November, why republicans are the scum of the earth, and why socialism will be the way of this country's future. I smell ozone, commie.

Of course, I want Kerry to show what "proven falsehoods" there are in the book. That's what makes me laugh. Saying it is meaningless. Showing us before demanding banning a book is only common sense.
I am waiting breathlessly, but they don't seem to be incensed enough to provide refutation with facts, not opinion.

The fact that JF Kerry was 'awarded the silver star' or the 'bronze star with combat V' or the Purple Heart with three two oak leaf clusters....is not the same
As whether or not John F Kerry 'merited' those medals...
Kerry is trying to sell himself to the American Public telling us that because of his 'heroism' in Vietnam...that he merits the job of President..that his combat experiences are his credentials to be POTUS over George W Bush...who Kerry says is unfit to be POTUS because he lacks the same or equal combat credentials as John F Kerry....
OK....then
It is only fit that these assumptions be challenged and either proven or disproved to be true...
After all not only is President our highest office....Kerry wants to take it over in the middle of our war on Terrorism...
The Swift Boat Veterans have made compelling arguments demonstrating John F Kerry's complete lack of character and morals..his predilection to run from combat, his wounded comrades and to lie....these are very serious charges...that cannot and must not be ignored.
The SBVs have eye witness accounts Kerry's lying on official documents as well as in print and to the press...The "Swifties" present the argument that Kerry's falsified events in order to secure for himself medals he (and perhaps others) did not merit...
The Swift Boat veterans have made compelling arguments that Kerry's war stories are indeed false..that Kerry is in fact false...and therefore the very premise Kerry himself is running on is also false..
Kerry tells us that 'his war experience' is what qualifies him to be President.... If his war experience is based upon his own falseness....
Then he automatically disqualifies himself for the job of POTUS based upon
his own insistence that its his war record that is his main qualification for the job...
If it can be proved that John Kerry has lied about his qualification for President...than he must be denied the office....BY HIS OWN STANDARDS OF WHAT QUALIFICATIONS THE PRESIDENT MUST HAVE..
imo

Great post!
...As whether or not John F Kerry 'merited' those medals...
A lot of men never got medals but they are heroes and we owe then a lot.
We owe John Kerry only our contempt.

Yesterday I went to the local Barnes and Noble bookstore to get the book. The young man obviously a Kerry boy was offended when I asked for "Unfit for Duty" instead of "Unfit for Command" when he corrected me and I could see the snarl in his face.
He had to look on the computer and then call someone in charge over and verify that there were so many requests for the book. He was very surprised and hesitantly took my info to call me when the shipment comes in.
The lady in charge equated the interest as to the Clinton bio and the Harry Potter books. Potter books, yipee!!

Swift boat, the sequel
By John Mercurio

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- It's the silly season of summer sequels. If you liked the original, you'll love "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth 2," the new TV ad released this morning that responds to enemy fire the anti-Kerry group has drawn this week.

Kerry tells us that his "war experience" is what qualifies him to be President. His post service "war experience" (lying before the media and congress, marching under a Viet Cong flag) makes him a traitor by providing aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war. His own contribution as a member of the protest movement to the North Vietnamese victory is celebrated in a war museum there.
Traitors are not fit for the office of the presidency. A lack of will to prosecute treasonous activity does not change facts. Even after WWII there was little will to prosecute those Americans (even broadcasters) who joined up with the Nazis IN Germany. Lucky for us the British put Lord Haw Haw on trial (they hanged him).
There is absolutely no doubt that Hanoi Jane was a traitor and John Kerry first rose to prominence with his anti-war activities (actions he doesn't seem to be discussing this year, when he claims to be a war hero).
