My thoughts ZOT

Posted on 08/16/2004 10:55:19 AM PDT by Headfulofghosts

Can someone give me an exact answer, why doesn't Kerry come out against the war, when all of the facts back him up, as of now he's got my vote. However, he should drop this " allies" thing, because it really is a bunch of bull, it's as bad as Bush saying that there is still WMD, i mean come on, is there anyone who actually belives this- that France, Germany, and Russia well come along to our ' side." Complete wishful thinking, the world has changed, there is no soviet union, and the world hates the US, for some good reasons, but the rest is all hypocritical. Whoever, the next president is, should say these exact words, to the Iraqis, ' listen, we tried to do the right thing, but we didn't know how stupid you all really are." And I think it's time to start to be inventive, come up with new angles, for example that little Hitler like Al Sadr, send a CIA unit, capture his a...., while he sleeps, dress him up in those " execution suits" like Al Queda does, and waste him, portraying themselves as Al Queda. Lastly. every detainee should be forced to watch " Newlyweds." As far as the war in Iraq itself, i agree that it has inspired more terrorists as Kerry claims, but in a weird and strange way, it may give the CIA enough time to get the intelligence they need and to fully infultrate it, as in the Sept. 11, hearings fmr. cia director Tenet said we had no intel on the ground, and that it would take 5 years to fully fight the threat- and i agree with Miss Portman, that maybe the best thing for both our country and Bush, is to send him back to his ranch- as he seems to be more interested in that than the affairs of President.

i do, i just wouldn't think that we would still be fighting, i guess i expected more out of the Iraqi people, i was wrong

They've had a dictator slaugtering them for decades for any opposition. Innocent men, women and children murdered. Women raped as punishment, when they were not guily of anything. Simply a message to their family. Guess what their punishment was for "allowing" themselves to be raped - death. Men thrown off buildings. Lethal gasings. Chemical exposure to "test" weapons of mass genocide. Thousands of like-minded insane jihadists trained to take on us - the "Great Satan". Trained to slam planes into builings, trucks full of explosives into buildings.

Maybe one that contained YOUR family.

Local guy in my area just got back, says he want to return to duty in iraq.
His wife had a cow and went to the paper about it.
Big article asking every nosy bitty in the Hudson Valley, "SHOULD he go BACK?!"
*shaking head*
He's a soldier, signed up for a commitment, and feels it's important.
Why does the Hudson Valley have to give permission for him to go?
(And why do some wives have to be so lacking in understanding about the military?)
*shrugs*

Wish to God that some common sense would break out here in NY state, not that it's gonna happen.

Most of the "insurgents" are foreign fighters.

You're a HISTORY major and THIS ill educated about how long wars take?

This is a test and yes,it counts and you will be graded!

How long did the American Revolutionary War last?

How long did the American Civil war last?

How long did WW I last?

How long did WW II last?

How long did the Korean War last?

For a bonus, how long did the 100 year War last and who's buried in Grant's Tomb?

Hey Doc,
Here is the reading list:

Victor Davis Hanson
Orson Scott Card
John Keegan
B. H. Liddell-Hart
National Review Online
Thomas Sowell
Paul Johnson
Jeff Shaara
Winston Churchill
Hal Moore
S. L. A. Marshall
James Gavin
George Pattton

I'm sure the nice FReepers could recommend other authors and books that are required to get a rudimentary education in history.

Well, soldiers by and large (with the exceptions of Clark and similar types) are professionals and honorable men.
If they say and agree, "We will not attack you if you do not attack us" you can guarantee they will keep their word.
Unfortunately, after the cessation of major operations (force on force engagements) and the beginning of urban combat, some of the commanders have forgotten that the enemy isn't so honorable.
(We're STILL kicking their butts though! EVEN at such a so-called 'disadvantage'!)

So our forward troops in actual direct contact with the Sadrs and the Taliwacks get told to stand down and truce whe the enemy offers a truce.
If we ignored such things, the (de)press would go bananas about it and claim we were being evil aggressors.

Think about it.
What does the press do whenever the Jordanian and Iranian terrorists inside Iraq break a truce?
(They say nothing.)
What does the press do when we flatten a bulding?
They scream about civilian casualties and how horrible we're being.
We're not only up against enemies on the ground, but enemies in the press.

First off darlin',
You need to improve your writing skills. They make you look like you are all of 12 and sitting on a phone book to get to the computer.

Secondly,
For me it is a simple choice.
I can vote for someone with character or someone without. The weirdest thing is, while I am struggling with my only spiritual beliefs, I find Bush's open faith a big plus in his favor.

Lastly,
You have legitimate questions, so I have one for you---
What do you do in your daily life for the underdog?

I know.
Still wonder why that guy's wife pulled that stunt on him.
Probably the same reason my missus pulled some stunts on me when I was in uniform.

'zactly. W and our forces have been hesitant to wage a total war that would have loong since ended the war. Instead, the focus on waging war against military targets - to bring to justice those who deserve it.

It's just to bad that we can't do the same for the treasonous media that give aid and conmfort to the enemy.

I think a lot of women share that viewpoint. Some because their husband is back for their 3rd TDY.
