Ross Cavitt, WBS reporter in Port Charlotte saying tomorrow there will be signifant casualties.
I agree with you.
Keep us posted on the news reports please.
The area of landfall had been under a Hurricane Warning for a long, long time (as Hurricane Warnings go.)
I'm attempting to find a record of the evac orders but pretty extensive mandatory evacs were ordered there, and relatively early (as evacs go.)
Lake Wales--must boil water. Just east of Lake Wales, a 50 ft sink hole opened up. They think it swallowed a car--but they can't be sure yet. A nursing home had roof damage when the A/C unit blew off. No injuries. Cars parked behind the NH had windows blown out. Gas line fire. Power is out in most locations in Polk Co.
Who lost their lives? I haven't heard any reports of deaths.
You don't know who you're talking to. I lived in South Fla ON THE BEACH during hurricane Andrew, had to evacuate. So tell me how and what I can say in this thread sissy.
That was the projection yesterday.
I am hearing 3 billion just in and around Punta Gorda.
Additionally, a British Journalist has been freed in Iraq, and the aides of the cleric Sadr are seeking amnesty for him AND ALL HIS FOLLOWERS. (the British journalist was freed because of the intervention of the aides -- it is possible the Cleric Sadr is dying, and these people are trying to save his life...)
Finally, some Polish troops went to the rescue of some Iraqi police (30 Polish soldiers) and the militia of Sadr is now surrounded because this situation.
Not that Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Norh Carolina reports are not important, but I thought this might be of interest to Freepers...
As you pointed out though hurricane warnings went up for the west coast faily early on and that means 'pay attention'.
I hope they don't try and blame this on Jeb Bush, he did the best he could with the information given to him.
DeSoto Co. All major roads blocked. In Arcadia, the roof blew off a shelter housing 1200 evacuees. A shopping center is destroyed. Widespread, severe damage, no electricity. No water in Arcadia.
It was a 2 at noon, and a 4 by 3pm. When I got your email telling me it had intensified that much that fast, I didn't believe it at first.
please, keep the reports coming...
If you'd listen with your ears instead of your mouth, you would know that there are people confirmed dead, and that they're anticipating a VERY bad day tomorrow.
There are people on this thread RIGHT NOW with loved ones they can't get in touch with in a massively damaged area.
Show some maturity.
My first email to you was 1:24; it was a 4 then.
Couple of crank calls to Fort Myers TV -- one guy started to berate the local meteorologist for getting it wrong and caused many people to die -- Newsbabe cut him off and apologized (Why don't these stations have a 7-second delay when they broadcast live?)
Sounds like a low cat 3 hurricane. Trees down like crazy, some flooding, general mess. Houses don't get blown apart in a cat 3. Cat 5, apparently yes.
NWS Wilmington issued this at 11:39
I'm in the general area of Florence. Oh well, here comes a rough ride.

CNN is showing pictures of a small airport that is just wasted.
Since H. Charley is moving offshore for the moment, there were tornadoes in North Carolina today from TS Bonnie.
(It is a bad slip when using the word movement in lieu of moment when talking of Hurricanes. I have seen enough movement of H. Charley for one day).
I have the Jax radar loop open in another window....
lots of red and orange. I think Charlie is going to form back up quickly.
