I imagine they're coming in from a lot of places. But they can send the stuff from Atlanta now becuase by the time it gets there it will be safe to go in. The folks closer are probably still having to wait.
Thank you sir.
Its a live feed over Media Player.
Lakewood Ranches is a 30 minute drive from the gulf, near Bradenton I believe.
Atlanta to Orlando is only an 8 hour drive.
"I'm goin' to Disney World!"
I don't have any info on the area. Freeper Joe Brower is located in Venice but I ahven't seen him post for a bit now, he's probably battened down at the moment.
Stay safe....Im praying for all of you.
LOL! No need to worry
All the calls they're getting are from SE of where it came ashore (Ft Myers). Still no word from the eye-affected areas.
Convert it to a hurricane party, with beer, coldcuts, and other stuff that doesn't require being cooked outside (or cooked at all, if the power goes out and you don't have a gas stove).
Started raining here in Gainesvill a little while ago. We were in the direct line yesterday and this morning, now appears that we should miss the eye...
Arcadia looks next-the eye is holding together well and I don't think they build with hurricanes in mind that far inland. Prayers for all!
Well, Atlanta is close enough where there's little danger of the supplies and stuff being damaged or destroyed by hurricanes and such that can hit any part of Florida...
I think it makes sense, when you also realize that the supplies are not just there for Florida, but for other disasters that may strike other states in the SE. Atlanta is pretty much the hub of the SE, with easy accessibility to the surrounding areas. Again, it makes sense from a deployment perspective :0)
"it's just stuff, and stuff can be replaced."
Great attitude. Know you are in our prayers.
You want the supplies far enough inland they don't get destroyed, yet centrally located to places that may be hit hard like Florida and North Carolina, with an excellent road network radiating out to all those places.
Sounds like....Atlanta.
Some guy from Port Charlotte called. Said he lost tons of trees but no damage to house, as yet. The eye had just gone over.
Well, you have to figure if you store it in Atlanta, you HAVE to ship it a longer ways.
But you have to store stuff someplace.
And, when you lay up supplies ahead of time, you don't know if you need to ship it to Charleston, the VACapes, New Orleans, Memphis (river flooding), or the FL panhandle, or Mobile, or ....
Atlanta is near the middle of all of those.
What was that clip a few minutes ago? Was that some guy getting literally blown away out from under some type of umbrella-like structure? That was unreal.
