Really I was watchung TWC, some guy on the beach. I was wondering where the 18 ft storm surge was.
I lived in St. Pete for 4 years and Cocoa Beach for 3. My father was a commercial fishing captain so I learned well top watch and track storms. Some of these peoples statements on here are just down right ignorant.

I would bet that the lead time for that locale was less then others, and that they didn't have as much time to get people's attention to get out.
Major damage at Cape Coral Hospital.
Substanital damage in Cape Coral. City Hall damaged. Cape Coral Hospital lost a bunch of windows...no water pressure. Significant damage through city.
Minimal damage in Fort Myers, according to the reporter at the disaster center. Some roofs off in Sanibel.
5 pm advisory has the winds at 140 mph. This one is gonna do some serious inland damage.

Wasn't it Dennis that sat off the coast for week dropping rain before it actually moved again? And then a few weeks later Floyd came in and did major damage.
All I'm saying is, I'm north (Virginia) in the path of ~whatever~ this thing turns into. And it ~could~ get stronger.

941 is a solid 4.....i think it usually ranges from 930-950....andrew was 920ish.....gilbert 899!!!
